This call to conserve and develop our natural resources and to become more aware of the environment around us is issued by the McHenry County Soil and Water Conservation district. Robert Fleck, McHenry, president of the district, has sent special appeals to ministers throughout McHenry county; Traditionally our churches - rural - oriented and often the focal point for many rural activities-contemplate the significance of Soil Stewardship week, Fleck said In addition, school teachers are increasingly active in this observance, aided through the establishment of a con­ servation coordinator in each school district. Judy Porter Stars In Church Drama Offering "He Done Her Wrong", or "Wedded But No Wife!" is the title of the melodrama to be presented by the . First Congregational Church Players Saturday and Sunday, April 19 and 20. The play centers around the pure but persecuted heroine, Hyacinth Haven, who falls into the Clutches of the heavily- moustached villain, Fleetwood Dashaway, and is rescued by the manly-bosomed hero, Fitzjohn Oliphante. The beautiful villainess, who has a will of her own, is played by Judith Porter of McHenry. She has appeared in "Amahl and the Night Visitor" and "Radiant Morning" and is very active in directing children's drama. Big Hollow School Sets Registration Registration for children eligible for kindergarten for the 1975-76 school year will be held at Big Hollow elementary school April 29 and 30, May 1 and 2 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Proof of date of birth must be presented at time of registration. A birth certificate is preferred but a hospital or baptismal certificate will be acceptable. The child must be 5 years of age by Dec. 1, 1975. Parents who are unable to come to the school for registration at this time, are asked to send the school a letter with information as to the child's name, address and telephone number, and ap­ proximate date they will be in to register their child. Physical and dental forms will be given at the time of registration. These must be completed before school starts in the fall. Two Local Girls Win Scholarships At Evanston School Beth Bazan, a senior at McHenry high school, has won a $500 award in the scholarship competition at the National College * of Education's Evanston campus. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bazan of 4810 Osage road, Wonder Lake. Maria Metzger, a senior at Marian Central Catholic high school, has been awarded a partial scholarship to the same school. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Metzger of 4301 N. Riverview drive, McHenry. Forty-three students in the top quarter of their graduating classes competed for the four- year scholarship March 15. Applicants had two personal interviews, wrote an essay, and demonstrated ability in music, drama, art, English, science, math or social studies.
