MC 84 AN ORDINANCE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF McHENRY, ILLINOIS, as follows: Section 1: That Chapter 14 of the Municipal Code of the City of McHenry, Illinois, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto Article XIr relating to Fences, as follows: ARTICLE XI Fences Section 48. Permit. No fence may be erected in the City unless a permit is obtained in advance and unless such fence is erected in compliance with the provisions of this Fence Ordinance. Section 49. Residential Fences. The following stan­ dards shall be followed in con­ structed on premises used for residential purposes: a. No fence shall be erected on a front lot line or anywhere in fhe"frent yard. b.-Sidejard fences may not exceed 4 feet in height from ground l©rel and rear yard fences may not exceed 6 feet in height from ground level, except that where residential premises abut onto premises used for business or industrial purposes, a fence not to exceed 8 feet in height from ground level may be erected. c. The use of barbed wire in residential fencing is prohibited. Section 50. Industrial, Commercial and Non- Residential Fences. Electrified fences, snow fences, chicken wire, hdg and farm-type fences are prohibited. d. No stone, masonry or concrete fence shall be con­ structed unless it is supported by a foundation and footing which shall extend at least 42 inches below the finished grade of the ground on both sides of the fence. Section 2: All Ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with the terms and provisions of this Ordinance are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
