Those freezers that require manual defrosting use less energy JUNE 2 McHenry Senior Citizens Club Executive Committee Meeting - 3 p.m. -- Landmark School. JUNE 3 Marcia Mary Ball Circle Picnic -- Noon - At Home of Alvina McKaige. than frostless models Thus they cost less to operate. Chest-style freezers are both less expensive to buy than upright models and use less energy. Their operating cost is lower per cubic foot of storage Manual defrost freezers can build up a thick layer of frost. Remember to defrost it before frost reaches a thickness of V* inch. You should defrost these models once or twice a year unless its frequently opened. Frostless freezers, though han dier. come only in upright models. This type of freezer has the highest initial and continuing operating costs. Freezers use energy more ef ficiently when full Also, make sure there is room around your ap pliance for the air to circulate Try to place it in a cool, dry basement. It will use less energy there than in a warm kitchen location SUE CHRISTY ENGAGED - Mr. and Mrs. James Christy of 902 Marion court. Island Lake, announce the engagement of their daughter.
