The program for the evening will be the Crystal Lake high school freshman quartet, with Jim Nelson, director, and featuring Don Moore, Jeff Dixson, Dan Albrecht and Jeff Wollam. Spring Grove road, Johnsburg, will observe their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary by hosting a reception for family members and invited guests May 17 in the Johnsburg Community club hall. Mr. Bowsher informed the membership that there will be another Driver Refresher course for those having to renew their licenses. These sessions will be held the last three Wednesdays: May 14, May 21, and May 28 at the city hall from 10 a.m. to noon. Here is a chance to attend the review or refresher classes which will enable one to "brush up" on current signs, rules and regulations, and thus more quickly and efficiently pass renewal tests. Mr. Bowsher should be called to register. Frank Giel cautioned the bowlers who will be attending the banquet May 8 at Branded Steak House to be sure and have tickets with them. There are still a few reser­ vations left for the bus trip to the Chicago Loop Wednesday, May 14. The buses for the Tulip festival at Holland, Mich., will leave the McHenry Savings and Loan association parking lot Thursday, May 15, at 6 a.m. There are still a few reser­ vations available for the bus trip to Mill Run Wednesday evening, June 18. There will be two buses for this trip. A bus trip to see the Chicago Cubs play in July or August is in the planning instead of going to Milwaukee for a ball game. A brunch-Boat trip at Lake Geneva, Wis., is also in the planning stage. There is the Ice Capades in November, and something special in December is also on the agenda. John Doerr is busy getting all these special events arranged. The kitchen band had its first get-together of the season April 30 and is receiving many requests for programs. All requests should be made in writing to the band secretary, Lyda Radisch. A coffee was hosted by Dorie Koenig at her Waterfall house in Johnsburg May 2. This was also a kick-off meeting to establish plans for a House Walk Into Gracious Country Living, to be held June 22. The House Walk will benefit the Restoration fund of St. John the Baptist church, Johnsburg. The church, a beautiful Ger­ man Gothic structure, is in need of restoration costing $500,000. At this initital meeting, chairmen and their various duties were determined. Fran Olsen is the general chairman of the Walk and is also in charge of the hostesses. Other chairmen are Gayle Bonus, Publicity committee; Mary Jane Nowak, Ticket com­ mittee, and Frank Schafer, Traffic committeee. All are from Johnsburg. There will be three houses featured in the Walk. All are waterfront homes located in the Dutch Creek Woodlands sub­ division of Johnsburg. She had girls from Palatine, Loves Park and Elgin, as well as girls from '98' as her officers. Her theme for the evening was "The Time to be Happy is Now" and included a backdrop which she had embroidered and sewn herself. On May 9 and 10 the annual ACTING ASHAMED An actor and a banker found themselves seated next to each other at one of those fund-raising affairs. Hold Valley-Hi Jinks Festival. trg After a burst of activity, the eighty-nine patients at the McHenry County Nursing home are ready for the Valley-Hi Jinks festival Saturday, May 10, to be held on the grounds in - Hartland from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A display of arts and crafts created by the patients will be1 the heart of the fair, an annual project of the Crystal Lake . County visitors ' will be able to visit the many additional facilities of the home, such as the physical therapy room, the dental service, the beauty shop, and the social activities provisions.
