The decision was made to eliminate the ex­ tension of Hilltop boulevard through to State park Road, to include a proposed site for a future sewerage treatment plant and to place *the Bull Valley Bridge on the map with the footnote that this is a county proposal, not a village proposal. Also to be included is a park area in Unit Five. The commission plans to meet again before the ordinance is finalized and presented to the village board for study and approval. ' The crew of men obtained bv the village through the man­ power program has been busy this past week. Their road work was cut short by the rainy weather and they have been painting the inside of the village hall. The swing set and baseball backstop at the beach have also acquired a new coat of paint. It is hoped this crew will be able to get the road culverts cleaned out to expedite the flow of water along the roadways. Spring clean-up for the village will be held on June 7. Again no trees or branches will be allowed in the dumpsters. NEWS BITS It is good to hear that Rose Neuharth is out of the hospital and on the road to recovery after her bout with pneumonia. Janice Lawson has received her degree in Fine Arts from Northern Illinois University and will be spending the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Lawson, preparing for her September wedding. My family spent the past weekend in Morton, 111., with former Shores residents Mr. and Mrs. Dan Carroll. Those who knew them will be happy to hear Mary is recovering nicely. Her speech and mobility are greatly improved and they send their regards to all their friends and neighbors in this area. Gerry Olbinski recently returned from a vacation in Hemet, Calif., where she visited her sister, Lorraine. The weather was beautiful and they enjoyed their visits to Sea World, Knox Berry Farm and the Wax Museum. A day spent shopping at a Flea Market where many handcrafted items were on display was one of the highlights. We know you had a great time but it is good to have you back. Earl Wick, ten year resident, retired on May 1 after 15 years with Gearmaster. Mr. Wick was one of the original founders of Gearmaster. A party in his • honor was held at the McHenry Country Club on May 2 at which time Mr. Wick was presented with a tape recorder to be used in his boat and a watch by the employees. Mr. Wicks plans on doing "a little of this and a little of that" and enjoying the company of his wife, Wanda, and their son, Randy.
