Mrs. Ihrig became a headliner last year when she undertook the overwhelming task of trying to unseat the Democratic choice, Tom Tulley, for Cook county assessor. Though defeated in her bid for the office, Mrs. Ihrig won the prestigous en­ dorsements of the majtfr Chicago newspapers. Current governmental and civic activities of Mrs. Ihrig include chairman, Illinois Mental Health Planning Board; member, Advisory committee to the Illinois State library; member, Advisory Committee on Continuing Education, Secretary of State. Also, she is president of the Illinois Library association and chairman of the Oak Lawn unit of the American Cancer society. Her past governmental ac­ tivities include a wide range of experience as well. In her local community of Oak Lawn, she has served as a trustee; chairman of the Oak Lawn Planning and Development commission, chairman of the Oak Law Zoning commission, and as chairman of the Oak Lawn Council of Governments. Mrs. Ihrig is also a past president of the League of Women Voters of Illinois. Mrs. Ihrig is now employed as a community agent for Moraine Valley Community college. Her job involves developing workshops for governmental officials. Babysitting will be provided at the First Methodist church in Woodstock for a fee. Kitchen Band In Performance The McHenry Senior Citizens club Kitchen band entertained St. Peter's Christian Mother's club of St. Peter's church of Spring Grove and their guests Thursday evening. There were more than two hundred persons in the audience, which was most receptive, interested and appreciative. At the conclusion of the program, the band received a most enthusiastic standing ovation. Very delicious refresh­ ments were served the band members, and they had a fine time visiting with the audience. The band has been quite busy getting its new schedule compiled. Miss McDonagh, Allen Anderson Exchange Vows St. Mary's Catholic church was the setting for the lovely wedding of Barbara Ann Mc- Donagh and Allen Lee An­ derson Saturday, May 24, at 2:30 p.m. They repeated their nuptial vows before the Rev. Joseph F. Kulak. The bride is the daugher of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Mc- Donagh of 3606 W. Clover avenue, McHenry. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Anderson of 243 N. Benton, Palatine. Musical arrangements of "The Wedding March", "With These Hands", "Wedding Song", "Ave Maria" and "We've Only Just Begun" were presented during the ceremony. The pretty bride chose a formal length gown of nylon satin trimmed with Venice lace. The gown featured a V- neckline, attached chapel length train and rosebud and pearl studded lace trim on the bodice and sleeves. Her chapel length veil was also trimmed with rosebud and pearl studded lace trim. She wore a heart- shaped pendant necklace centered with a diamond, a gift from the groom. Lakeland Women's Club Plans Trip, Project Friday, July 11, is the date for the Lakeland Park Women's club to take a bus trip to Chicago to see a Cubs ball game. Reservations should be made with Mrs. John W. (Maureen) Johnson. Friday is Ladies day, so there is no ad­ mission fee for the ladies. However, children and men are also welcome to go along. The Lakeland Park Women's club will be collecting items for Fish the third Saturday of each month at the Community house from 8 to 11 a.m. Families having food stamps are restricted to buying only food with the stamps. Fish advises of a great need for toilet paper, and other paper products, laundry soaD, bar soap, tooth paste, deodorants, band-aids, feminine personal sanitary items, canned meats, etc. Saturday, June 21, will be the next collection day. Mrs^Count is a past president of the Belvidere Woman's club. Mrs. Henry Tice will head the McHenry club in the year ahead. She will be assisted by Mrs. Robert Foy, first vice- president; Mrs. Charles Horst, second vice-president; Mrs. Eva Brown, treasurer; Mrs. Roy Enger, . recording secretary; and Mrs. Lee Gebhardt, corresponding secretary. As a result of the Federation activities in which the local club participated, several awards were won at the recent I.F.W.C. convention in Chicago by the Local club. They included an increase in membership from thirty to sixty-five in the past nine months. Other recognition was for 100 par­ ticipation in the Cancer Prevention drive which the general Federation organized when Mrs. Ford and Mrs. Rockefeller had cancer operations last year. The club is also sponsoring two McHenry high school students who will attend a state-wide five-day seminar on teen-age drug abuse and alcoholism. Following a most enjoyable program by Sada Stern Merel, a lovely table was presided over by chairman of hostesses,Alice Bethel, and her committee of Eunice Stowell, Lynne Dubsky, Arlyne Schultz, Agnes Weiss, Hjordis Karleen and Emma Foy.
