This fund-raising affair is being held this year at Turnberry Country Club, Crystal Lake, with WIVS' popular "Josh" Brady serving as master of ceremonies. The donation includes green fees, prime rib dinner, access to the tennis courts and swimming pool facilities, and numerous prizes. Separate dinner tickets are available for ladies and other guests. Special guests this year are members of the Chicago Bears football team and they will present the evening program following dinner. All reservations for golf and dinner are to be made by calling Marian Central between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. By Dick Rabbitt In probably the finest brand of baseball you will find anywhere from sandlot to the majors, the Warriors of McHenry split with Libertyville Tuesday at Libertyville. The "Cats" won the first game in the bottom of the seventh 1 to 0 on a home run by Mike Lindall. Dave Wickenkamp was the loser. Both Dave and Baker Green, the "Cat" pitcher, each issued 2 hits, walked one, and struck out eight. The Warriors had the opportunity in both the second and fourth innings, but Green rose to the occasion and got out of trouble. In the second game Tommy Ludwig gave up 3 first inning hits as the "Cats" scored two runs, then shut the door on them as he went the rest of the way without issuing a hit, and walked two. Mike Lindall, the hero of the first game, was the loser as the "Cats" committed three errors behind him, and the Warriors of the "Big Man" took the advantage and scored three times. "EARL WALSH So I Hear SPORTS EDI Spindly Harry Anderson swishing underhand shots through the basket from the center of the floor. Mary Pickford in a movie. REMEMBER FATHER on Father's Day June 15th Each team left three stranded in the second game. Tony Christy, all conference member, scored two of the three runs. In the bottom of seventh, Tony singled, stole second, and went to third on a sacrifice fly. Tommy Ludwig's slow grounder to first, which he beat out for a hit, scored Christy with the winning run. The Warriors wound up 10 and 8 in the conference and 19 and 8 overall. With a junior dominated team, Coach Swanson is to be commended, and the baseball team in the future looks like a winner. As a bit of a sidelight I would like to comment on the fact that the parents of both Baker Green and Mike Lindall, whom I know personally, said that Coach Swanson was "one of the finest gentlemen that they have met". Coach Swanson told both parents after the game that "your two boys are really gentlemen and you should be proud of them '. Along with this the two umpires of the game made a point to come over and shake the hand of Dave Wickenkamp, the losing pitcher of the first game, commenting to Dave "young lad you really pitched a good game, and it was a tough one to lose". Where else, but in high school athletics can you find this kind of sportsmanship? For anyone who is critical of high school athletics, this is just a sample of the kind of sportsmanship that goes on between schools, officials, parents, and all others connected in some small way with the athletic programs of our high schools. All I can say in finis is "Boost your high school teams". CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING SPECIAL Complete Package To Fit Most Furnaces. COUNTY CHAMPS - The Warrior track team had an impressive season as they captured the County Meet, placed second in the McHenry relays, and finished fourth in the conference. This team, freshmen through seniors, also broke several school records. The new records set were the 440 relay when Ev Klapperich, Brian Nuss, Denny Usemann and George Hansen ran it in a time of 44.6. The 880 relay was done in 1:32.3 with Ev and Loren Klapperich, Denny Usemann and George Hansen doing the footwork. Both the 1 mile and 2 mile records were broken as John Mclnerney came in with times of 4:22.3 and 9:24. Randy Schiller set a new record in the triple jump with 37.6. Hansen entered the record books again when he tied the pole vault with 14 feet. And with a toss of 46.10 feet, A1 Reinbolt cracked the frosh-soph shot put record. Their 12 win and 1 loss record speaks for their team effort.
