Bemie and Tony Misiak and the honored couple, Jack and Harriet VanKanegan, drove down Lake Shore Drive on their way to pick up Ed and Gloria Coughlin. Plans had been made by the two couples to take the VanKanegans out to dinner to the Chateau Louise to celebrate their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. As they drove slowly along, what to the wondering eyes -of the VanKanegans should appear but forty-five people standing in the drizzling rain on the lawn of the Coughlin home. In the hands of some was a huge sign saying, "Welcome to the Chateau Louise!" This was the surprise beginning of an evening Jack and Harriet are not likely to forget. Old friends, including the Jack Kramers and the Chuck Sullivans were there to share in the happy occasion. We add our congratulations to Jack and Harriet and wish them many, many more happy an niversaries! May was the month for showers. A little bird chirped the news of the following to us. SPRINGFIELD TRIP On June 3, at 8 a.m., Harrison school's eighth grade class started out for Springfield. We left in two Greyhound busses and much of a flurry. After a three hour ride the kids were glad to get out and walk around and eat in Normal, 111. The State Museum and Lincoln's Tomb in Springfield were visited for part of the afternoon and the latter part of the af ternoon was spent swimming and admiring our motel rooms. Six-forty-five came and we started for a short walk over to a restaurant for our banquet dinner. We were served smorgasbord style and not a single person went off dissatisfied. Bowling came next and six trophies were given out. For the boys, high series, Pat Curran; high game, Mark Price, low game, Dennis Coughlin. For the girls, high series, Lynn Raske; high game, and low game, Janet Pickell. After bowling, pizza and pop were enjoyed at a pizza parlor. In the Capitol, we watched the General Assembly in action. After lunch we left for New Salem park. There we toured and went on a 40 minute paddle boat ride. We ate supper at a drive in Save 20%!
