: \\ H r.y, l!»; Here And There In Business Ask Tax Exemption For Home Improvements HOST STUDENTS - Rae Corporation, Motor Group, located in McHenry, welcomed eighty seventh and eighth grade students from Parkland school for guided tours in conjunction with the school's Career day, held recently. The students learned how the manufacturing process works, from the time the order is placed in the Sales department until the product is shipped to the customer. They observed the various building stages a fractional horsepowered permanent magnet motor goes through, and the type of machinery that is used. Pictured below is the armature polishing operation being performed by Joyce Rueter with Parkland school students looking on, left to right, Rosario Talamantes, Dale Mueller, Nancy Altergatt, Donald Vornkahl, Jamie White, Larry Brent, Charlie Cox and Dnny Schooley. i The Il l inois Legislature has passed and sent to the Governor legislat ion providing a property , tax exemption for home improvements. The measure was introduced and sponsored in the Il l inois House by State Hep. Thomas J . Hanahan, D-McHenry, and sponsored in the Il l inois Senate by Senator Jack Schaffer , R- Cary. The bil l a l lows homeowners to deduct the value of home improvements up to $15,000 from the assessed value of their property if the improvements would otherwise increase the assessed value of their homes. Property tax bil ls are com puted by mult iplying this assessed value by a tax rate. This "homestead im provement exemption" will continue for four years after the improvement is completed and occupied. Hanahan commented, "This legislat ion should prove as a st imulant to the depressed Il l inois building industry by providing encouragement for people to f ix up or expand their exist ing homes. This bil l is a posit ive way of generating jobs in a t ime of economic recession Senator Schaffer remarked: "This measure will end a si tuation in which people are penalized for taking pride in their homes and will encourage more and more homeowners to take care of their property. "In addit ion, the measure may help ease the energy 'crunch by el iminating in creased tax bil ls due to the instal lat ion of energy- conserving siding and in sulat ion." Both legislators urge people who agree with the concept to write the Governor and request that he sign House Bil l 1386 into law. List Producer Options Under '75 Loan Program Producer options for ob taining anniversary loans under the 1975 wheat and feed grain programs have been announced by the US.S. Department of Agriculture. The Department said on Nov. 27, 1974, that wheat and feed grain loans would no longer have identical maturi ty dates but wil l mature eleven months following the end of the month in which the loan is made. Loans for wheat , oats , barley, and rye may be ob tained from harvest through May 31, 1976, and loans on corn and grain sorghum from harvest through May 31, 1976. As in the past , the producer has the option of s toring his grain under loan ei ther on the farm or in an approved warehouse. To obtain a farm-stored loan, the producer needs to cert ify at his Agricultural Stabil izat ion and conservation Service (ASCS) county office the number of bushels of grain he has in suitable storage. The loan amount will then be computed by mult iplying the el igible quanti ty of grain in storage t imes the loan rate for the county in which the grain is stored. The producer has the option of taking a loan on a quanti ty of grain less than the total el igible and of paying off al l or part of the loan at any t ime during the loan period. A Hold Family Film Night The last Tuesday of every month is Family Film night at Calvary Assembly of God church, 5906 S. Rt. 31 in Crystal Lake. The purpose of this night is to present gospel movies to every age. . This month's movie is "In His Steps", f t tel ls how these are days when the Christ ian church faces the unjque paradox of material success and spiri tual fai lure. More and more people at tend church, yet so few have any tangible grasp of what i t means to be a contemporary disciple of the Risen Lord. The fi lm is based on the book of the same name. The movie will be shown June 24 at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome and cordial ly invited to view this f i lm with us. requirement under the loan agreement is that the producer maintain the quali ty of the loan collateral and that he notify his county office prior to using or sel l ing any of the grain pledged for loan. Warehouse-stored loans will be disbursed on the basis of the full county loan rate which means the producer will have to repay storage to the maturi ty date of the loan. 1 rrzssz"" i sss&saM CUSTOMER1 CARE...
