July 18 Kick-Off Date Fot Voter League Finance Drive I §i§§ Planning for the annual finance drive of the Woodstock-McHenry League of Women Voters are, seated, left to right, Moira Davis, Sherry Floro and Esther Perez; standing, Chris Clark and Sandy Millius. July 18 marks the official kick-off date for the Woodstock- McHenry League of Women Voters annual finance drive. League members will be calling on local businesses in both communities asking for their financial help and sup­ port. The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan group which strives to promote political awareness and responsibility in all citizens. Among activities carried on during the past year through the help of financial contributions are: reception for state and local legislators; state study of the financing of public education; candidates meetings for local candidates including" school board; recycling drive; study of executive branch of govern­ ment; support of improved services for child welfare; financial study of District 200. League activities planned for the>poming year include con­ tinued work in the areas of health, county zoning, and county government. A study area including local education will also be part of the program of the Woodstock-McHenrv League. Along with the Leagues throughout the state. Wood­ stock-McHenry members will be studying election laws and procedures, child welfare, and gun control. Sharon Condon of Oak Park will be the guest speaker following the business meeting. She is associated with Leadership Techniques In­ stitute International, Inc., of Chicago and will discuss how one can broaden his horizon by improving human relation skills and attitudes. She has spoken before many associations and conventions as well as appearing on WFLD-TV (Channel 32) and WGN-TV (Channel 9)* with host. Bill Berg. Ms. Condon has also'been a guest lecturer at Roosevelt university and Northern Illinois university.
