We have a radio in the kit chen that might puzzle you. You turn the knob when you afise and tune in for a news program. You wait a couple of minutes, then give it a good whack and -- tl)ar she blows! -Should clear the desk once in aivhile. Just found a couple of nptes that were supposed to be included last week. Lost in the shuffle. Had mentioned that we didn't have the heart to remind Eddie Bimbo of the Cubs' 18-12 game , since he was kind enough to turn on the Lawrence Welk show for us. « And -- the Ed Houlihans and Jack Phelans made quite a stir about us watching those young dancers on the show. Guess they didn't believe us when we told them it brought us back 10 or 12 years in our own life. J And -- we wondered about Gary Harrison, a staunch White Sox fan. See Our Display at the First National Bank Of McHen Marine Fiesta week was a busy time in McHenry. We are told the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce starts right out to plan for next year. There was music and dan cing, good weather and a Jittle Sidewalk sales brought a whoppin' crowd to McHenry. The weather Sunday was not too hot and not too cold. Just right. It was the first time in years that we didn't ride in the parade so had a real treat in sitting down to watch the girls and all the units go by. As we sat in the stands near the judges' stand, Arnold Rauen and Frank Hromec complained of the sun on their heads. So back we trapse to our car and brought them an umbrella. Would you believe? They wanted us to stand there and hold the bumbershoot over their heads! The All-Star baseball game will be played in Milwaukee before this issue reaches most of you. Naturally, we pick the American League to win. Younger readers won't f emember Primo Carnera, the uge Italian pugilist. The giant stood 6 feet 1111 inches high and weighed 280 pounds. By Evelyn Sanford Tuesday, July 8, was our String tournament and Pro- Am. ' Gals participating in the String tournament had 1 foot of string for each stroke han dicap. They could use the string to come in bounds, move ball to a better position or advance ball into cup. However, you coulQ not use it to come out of the water. First place winner was Laura Schmitt with 37 - using 12 feet of string and taking a penalty stroke for coming out of the water. Dorothy Kreamcheck won secc.id place with 38 - using her 13 feet of string. Our president, Lou Stine, was really busy with the scissors. She didn't have enough string left to come out of the bushes on No. 18, and had to take a penalty stroke. Isabel Stilling and Doris Freund also had problems with bushes, and used a lot of string to bring their ball out to^lfboting position. For the Pro-Am gals, Rosemary Weingart chipped in for a par on No. 4, and with her teammates - Jane Lowey, Candy Divita, Carol Sandre won first place with 123. Second place team was Lorraine Pitzen, Diana Christianson, Rita Miller and Susie Smith with 127. Some nice shots around the green by a couple gals - Juanita Holmes chipped in on No. 5 as did Barb Wagner on No. 1. We have 3 more weeks of match play and then we start our tournament. Yours truly birdied No. 10 without the use of her string. Auto Service Tips &RBASBGrUN ATTACHMENTS CHECK THE FITTINGS ON YOUR CAR ANP U£E TUB PROPER ATTACHMENT ON THE GREASE GUN.
