PAGE 17 - PLAINDEALER-FRIDAY, AUGUST 1, 1975 McHenry Shores Inge Aide 344-1984 Invite Residents To Attend Meeting Of Village Board The next meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held on Aug. 6 from 7:30 to ap proximately 9:30 p.m. Residents are invited to attend. So, if you want to know what goes on in our community, make it a point to drop in at that or any other meeting at the village hall. All the meetings of the various commissions are posted on a calendar in the village hall. PLEA FOR HELP It would be greatly ap preciated is some of you guys who play ball at the baseball diamond would get a lawn^ mower and cut the grass there. Wouldn't it look much nicer for ^the picnic? By the way, by the time this appears the horsehoe pits should be ready for your enjoyment. Have fun! SHORELINE WAVES The reorganization meeting has been held, and it was decided that from now on the Shoreline Club will work for long-distance goals. What the first of these is going to be will be decided at the September meeting. So if you are in terested, please plan to attend. Here is another reminder about the picnic on Aug. 9. Tickets can be obtained at the village hall. Remember, they will be more expensive on the day of the picnic! Further particulars on this event will be mentioned in the second flyer that comes out this week. CELEBRATIONS OF THE WEEK Happy birthday to Howard Bain, Scott Vogl, Jill Urbanski and Neva Colberg. And happy anniversary to Rudolph and Eleanor Barnett who have been married 45 years. Good luck for the coming 45, you two! Evangelist To Appear At August Services shall Werry, pastor of the church. Services are scheduled daily at 7 p.m. At 37, Mr. Bristow is a veteran of more than 300 evangelistic crusades throughout the world. He has been heard by crowds of people in every part of the United States and in Canada, India and Africa. A native of t Texas, Mr. Bristow is a graduate of Wayland Baptist college. He is an ordained Baptist minister and served two years as a pastor prior to entering a full time ministry of itinerant evangelistic preaching in March of 1963. Married and the father of one son, Mr. Bristow often extends his ministry to include Bible conferences, personal evangelism clinics, youth retreats and radio and television. He is especially popular with student groups, and always gives at least one night of every crusade to a youth emphasis. During a recent crusade, the evangelist stressed: "The world's one great hope is that men will reject the clamor for the prostitution of their resources, and that they will turn to God through faith in Christ, thereby realizing the full potential of their humanity!" ONE BETTER WAY There's one better way when it comes to local news coverage, that's The News-Sun. We are the only daily newspaper that can give you the information you want and need. In addition you get all the latest world and na tional news in a package that can't be matched by any metropolitan paper. WAYNE BRISTOW Evangelist Wayne Bristow of Lubbock, Texas, will lead the First Baptist church of McHenry, located at 509 Front street, in evangelistic services Aug. 3-10, according to Mar- Writer's True Story In Film "MY SON, MY SON", a magnificent, intensely-moving motion picture telling the true story of famous writer, Benard Palmer, will be shown at the Alliance Bible church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, 3813 W. John street, McHenry, Sunday evening, Aug. 3, at 7 p.m. In "MY SON, MY SON", Bernard Palmer, busy as a writer and his very soul im mersed in Christian service, hardly realized what was happening to his son, Barry until it was nearly too late. Barry's mother died when the boy^was young, and he couldn't cope with a stepmother and the other children who joined the family. Bad conduct at school, scrapes with the law, heartache after heartache all took their toll on family relationships. The film detonates a powerful message for parents. Already one of the most widely heralded evangelical films, its ministry has been God's tool for changing lives - and families. ROWERS SORROW PETALS & STEMS 3301 W. But don't count on it, even if he stays in baseball! For in thousands of cities and towns across America we know that baseball isn't just the major leagues. We know boys on their way up. . . and men on their way down . . . and fellows who have gone about as far as they can go. A real ball player is one who gives his club his best--in any league. How close this comes to a fundamental conviction of the Church! Christianity gives a man solid footing for his faith in God and in himself. To achieve the full potential of our God-given talents is primary; to fulfill every dream is secondary. The Church promises no man earthly success. But it helps us to appraise the gifts God gave ... to use them honestly and unselfishly. And, startlingly, it points the way to new goals, far beyond our dreams.
