Monahan of McHenry announce the engagement of their daughter, Lynne, to John E. Cassell Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Cassell, also of McHenry. Lynne is a 1974 graduate of McHenry high school and is employed by a utility firm in Waukegan. Her fiance graduated from McHenry high school in 1972 and is presently employed by a Chicago Area construction company. The couple is planning a spring wedding. Nutrition, Weaning Topics At LaLeche League "Nutrition and Weaning" are the topics to be discussed at the La Leche League meetings held this month. The McHenry-East Group, including Johnsburg and Fox Lake, will meet Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 8 p.m. and the McHenry-West Group, in­ cluding Wonder Lake and Rich­ mond, will meet Thursday, Aug. 31, at 9:30 a.m. The League's belief that human milk is the superior infant food leads quite easily to an interest in good nutrition for the pregnant or nursing mother aind for her entire family. Some of the subjects to be discussed at this month's meetings will be reasons for delaying the in­ troduction of solid food to baby's diet, making your own baby food, some good ways to fortify foods at home, and the concept of baby-led weaning. ' La Leche League mothers are available to give moral support and practical help, - t h r o u g h m e e t i n g s , correspondence and telephone calls to other nursing mothers. Pregnant women often find it helpful to attend meetings prior to baby's birth. Babies are always welcome at League meetingS as well as any women Interested in learning more .about the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. The League also has an excellent loan library containing books on nursing, mothering, child care, child­ birth, and nutrition. The Annual Flower and Garden exhibit will be held at the meeting Monday, Aug. 25, where award ribbons will be presented to members having the prize items of their gar­ dening endeavors. This is always a most interesting feature, with very much ingenuity displayed by so Tffany of the members. There is still a very limited number of reservations available on the bus trip to the' Chicago Loop Wednesday, Aug. 13. Contact Mrs. Frank Giel at once if interested. The bus leaves the McHenry State bank parking lot at 8:45 a.m. The bus for the Cubs-Dodger baseball game at Wrigley field leaves the McHenry Savings and Loan Association parking lot at 11 a.m.. Tuesday, Aug. 19. Tickets for the annual Kail Smorgasbord Monday, Sept. 22, are selling fast. There is a limited seating arrangement so reservations should be secured from Mrs. Frank Giel promp­ tly. The dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. at East campus cafeteria, and following the dinner the McHenry Senior Citizens club kitchen band will present the program. The annual picnic for the club members was held at the Johnsburg Community center at Johnsburg Saturday, July 19. and was a most successful and pleasant event. There are many very in­ teresting events coming up such as a trip to the Sara Lee plant this fall; a bus trip to the House on the Rocks Sept. 24 (only a few reservations left on the third bus); Shady Lane at Marengo. bus-luncheon- theater, Oct 22; and only a few reservations left on the third bus. The third bus is almost filled.for the bus trip to the Ice Capades Nov. 12. Contact Mrs. Giel at once to be included in any of these trips. It was a very hot and humid evening Monday, July 28, but the program given by Mrs, Isabel Brody. dietician at the McHenry • hospital, on "Nutrition for Senior Citizens" was most interesting and in­ formative. The question and answer segment was also very helpful, and everyone really appreciated Mrs. Brody's talk. There is swimming for adults at West campus every Thursday night from 6 to 7 p.m . < at a very nominal fee. One can register at the school ad­ ministration offices.
