Playoffs Next Week In 12-Inch Softball The playoffs will begin next Monday, August 11 unless rain causes delay of the regular scheduled games \Wednesday, August 6. The final week of games will determine first place, second place and 4th place finishers with only Rusty Nail cinching third place as a for sure thing. If Old Bridge wins this Wednesday over Rusty Nail and House of David wins over S P A. both winners will tie for the league lead. However, Old Bridge won 2 of 3 games during the regular season from House of David and thus qualifies for the top spot in playoff competition. If Old Bridge loses and the House " wins House of David could win their second league title in two years! (Last year they called themselves Jake's). Fourth place is the big if !?! Three teams still have a shot at a playoff spot. S.P.A. holds the edge holding 4th place and the best record of the 3 teams. Phillip's 66 needs to win a pair of games along with a S.P.A. loss to House of David. A S.P.A. win and a 66 twin win gives us a tie for 4th place however, S.P.A. took 2 of 3 from Phillip's 66 earlier in the season. Last but not least in Wetteland Decorating who needs a twin victory over Phillip's 66 on Wednesday. Two wins over Phillips would give them a 9-11 won-lost record and couples with a S.P.A. loss on Wed nesday it gives Wetteland a chance to play Rusty Nail (if you recall there is a 10-10 McHENRY JUNIOR YOUTH LEAGUE MINI PIRATES - Pictured above, front row, left to right - Chris Creutz, Mike Cox, Richard Wilkey, Greg Gilmore and Steve Mumma; back row, left to right Coach Don Cox, Brian Truckenbrod, Mike Bellich, Steve Casey, Tom Wynveen and Erich Gramer. (STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD) suspended game to be played if necessary!) A win here ties them with S.P.A. but Wetteland took 2 of 3 from S.P.A., thus the playoff spot!?! If the playoffs go as scheduled, on Monday evening there will be two games at McHenry High School West Campus. Whoever comes in 4th place will play the first place club on the field next to the parking lot. Rusty Nail, third place finisher, will play the second place team on the next field down (without a backstop). Both first and second place teams will be home team for game one (and game three if necessary.) The second games for the playoffs will be held Wednesday, August 13 with teams switching playoff fields and third and fourth place finishers the home teams. If a third game is necessary it will be played Sunday at 1:00 p.m. on the same fields. The championship finals will be held the following week on Monday and Wednesday evenings with the third game, if necessary, to be played Sunday afternoon. Championships will be played on the field next to the parking lot. All games begin at 6:30 p.m. unless it is a Sunday game.
