Services For Disabled At Illinois Fair Numerous exhibits antl demonstrations detailing products and services available to disabled persons are on display at the Illinois building during the entire run of the Illinois State Fair. According to Tauna Amberg, exhibits chairperson for the Disabled Citizens Service day Steering committee for the Illinois State Fair, commercial businesses, state agencies and organizations for disabled persons are at the Illinois building throughout the entire fair, rather than just on Disabled Citizens Service day, as in past fairs. The Illinois Association of Retarded Citizens and the Illinois March of Dimes are sponsoring exhibits. Illinois Bell Telephone company is presenting a display of telephones suited to aid communications in spite of various disabilities, said Mrs. Amberg, along with the Illinois Association of the Deaf (IAD), which features an exhibit on deafness. Lawrence Forestall, IAD president, further explained that the exhibit deals primarily with services available to those with impaired hearing. Books on deafness are being sold to the public, he said The Illinois Office of Education. Mrs. Amberg said, is sponsoring a two-fold exhibit One part features art submitted by disabled Illinois children and the second details the rights and responsibilities of disabled persons within Illinois school districts, concentrating on career awareness and education of the disabled. Mrs. Amberg commented state fair personnel who are attempting to make all parts of the fair completely accessible to persons with physical disabilities for the entire ten- day duration of the fair, rather than just on Disabled Citizens Service dav.
