The former Marilyn Michels is the daughter of Mrs. Arnold Michels of McHenry and the late Arnold Michels. Her bridegroom is the son of Mrs. William Kumpula of YVaukegan. Leo Bartel in St. John the Baptist church, Johnsburg. The church was decorated with large bouquets of gladioli . Karen Smith and Mary ldstein were soloists. The bride wore a white, silk faced organza gown, the yoke was. fashioned of peau d' ange lace with scattered pearls and sequins and edged with crystal pleating. The high neckline was accented by crystal pleating and the long Bishop sleeves were trimmed with peau d'ange lace*and a cuff edged in the crystal pleating. The A-line skirt had a ruffle hemline and fell to a chapel train. Crystal pleating accented the back and formed an apron effect. A tiered, elbow length mantilla edged in a deep border of chantilly lace and held by a camelot cap of matching lace and edged in pearls completed her ensemble. She wore a rhinestone necklace with matching earrings that belonged to the bridegroom's mother. Crook, 7710 Oakwood drive, Wonder Lake, became the bride of Kevin J. Sheahan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel P. Sheahan, 475 W. Judd street, Woodstock, Saturday, Aug. 16. The ceremony was per­ formed in Christ the King Catholic church, Wonder Lake, at 3 o'clock by the Rev. Fr. Tranel. Special music was offered by Mrs. Judy Oeffling. Rose May of Johnsburg was maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Julie Weber and Colleen Keith of Wonder Lake, and Colleen Sheahan, Woodstock, sister of the bridegroom. Marty Palmer, Johnsburg, was the best man. Jon Sheahan, Woodstock, and David Crook, Wonder Lake, brothers of the bridal couple, and Frank Oeffling, Johnsburg, were groomsmen. The ring bearer was Danny Crook, brother of the bride. The bride is a 1975 graduate of Marian Central high school, where the bridegroom com-" pleted high school the previous year. She is employed in McHenry and he works for the Jewel Co., Barrington The newlyweds will reside in Wonder Lake. Union, the bridegroom's sister, Mrs. Georgia Freese, Crystal Lake, and Terri Huffar of Woodstock, niece of the bride, were bridesmaids. Julie Diedrich, niece of the bride, was junior bridesmaid. Michelle Freese of Crystal Lake, a niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl and carried a basket of white and blue carnations. The attendants wore dresses of white painted dots on organza over blue taffeta, fashioned with an empire bodice, scoop neck and baby doll sleeves. The flowing A-line skirt accented at waistline with a band of white and blue painted lace and matching fabric bow in the back at the waist line. They wore picture hats of white nylon hair braid with lace braid inserts at crown and brim. They had gold bell drop necklaces, gifts of the bride. Their flowers were white and blue nosegays. Mike Schneiderman of Woodstock was best man. Groomsmen were Bob Harrington, Union, Phil Freese, Crystal Lake, and Stan Friedel, Woodstock, cousin of the bridegroom. Ron Navlyt, Woodstock, cousin of the bridegroom, was junior groomsman. Kevin Diedrich, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. He carried a heart- shaped pillow with two rings. Ushers were Randy Thelen, Elhorn, Wis., nephew of the bride, and Brian Navlyt, Woodstock, cousin of the bridegroom. The bride's mother wore a long, sleeveless dress of blue flowered organza with jacket and an orchid corsage. Mrs. Nawalaniec chose a long, red, sleeveless dress and wore a corsage of white carnations. A reception for 225 guests was held at the Johnsburg community club. Renee Thelen and Janet Diedrich, nieces of the bride, passed the wedding guest book. Following a trip south the young couple will live in Rich­ mond. The bride, a graduate of Marian Central high school in 1975, is a secretary at Baber The Flower and Garden show at the McHenry Senior Citizens club has been a most in­ teresting annual event. On Monday evening, Aug. 25, with 249 members and guests in attendance, they witnessed the finest display the club has ever had. The judges, Mr. and Mrs. William Wilson, had a hard task in awarding the prize ribbons; however, there were so many categories and so many grades of awards that everyone having a display received some recognition and award. The flowers were very beautiful, and there were many very unusual displays and arrangements. The fruits and vegetables were exceptional. With the enthusiasm shown, next year's exhibit should be exceptional The bus for the Sara Lee Bakery tour Monday, Sept. 8 will leave the McHenry Savings & Loan Association parking lot on Green street at 9:15 a.m. The deadline for making reservations for the annual fall smorgasbord on Monday, Sept. 22, will be Monday, Sept. 15. As the seating arrangement is limited, Mrs. Frank Giel should be contacted promptly for tickets. After the smorgasbord, the McHenry Senior Citizens club kitchen band will perform. The "Rules of the Road" classes being conducted by the club instructors have been very helpful to senior citizens having to renew their ..expiring licenses, as many have found the written tests difficult to pass. Contact Kenneth Bowsher, president of the Senior Citizens club to register for the next session of classes. The last class in the present series ends Thursday, Sept. 4. These classes are held at the McHenry city hall from 10 a.m. to noon. On the trip to the Chicago Loop Wednesday, Sept. 10, the bus will leave the McHenry State Bank parking lot at 8:45 a.m. Mrs. Frank Giel reported that only the first seventy-eight members paying for their tickets for the bus-luncheon- theater trip to Shady Lane, Marengo, Wednesday, Oct. 22 will be able to go so get your tickets paid for promptly. There will be a card party for members at the next meeting of the club Monday, Sept. 8, with prizes for the winners at each table. e-p There are still a few reser­ vations available for the trip to the House on the Rocks. There will be three busses for this trip, so if interested contact Mrs. Giel at once for reser­ vations. The busses will leave at 7:30a.m., with a stop-over in Janesville, Wis., for "coffee and" on the way. Coming back there will be a stop at New Glarus, Wis., at an embroidery materials plant and a stop at a cheese factory. Name Committee For Pioneer Club Dinner Kitchen Band Gives Program For Marengo Club On Tuesday, Aug. 19, the McHenry Senior Citizens club kitchen band gave a program for the Marengo Senior Citizens club at the American Legion hall in Marengo. There was quite a large and attentive audience, many of whom had heard the band perform for the club several years ago. It was a warm and humid afternoon; however, the band was very animated and en­ thusiastic and gave a lively program. From the applause, members knew they had pleased the audience and were so gratified at the many compliments they received at the conclusion of the program. Refreshments were served and the band members enjoyed a social time renewing acquaintances and visiting with the Marengo senior citizens. Buickr Fox Lake. Her husband, a 1974 graduate of Woodstock high school, is a machinist at Modine, Ringwood. Honored guests at the wedding were the grandparents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Philip M. Thennes, McHenry, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Willie, Woodstock, grandparents of the bridegroom. Other guests in­ cluded the sister of the bride, Mrs. Sally Cahill, and sons, Sean and Eddy, from Phoenix, Ariz. The bride was honored at three showers. Rita Ideler hosted one in Woodstock for issmates. Mrs. Georgia Freese gave one for the bridegroom's relatives, and the bride's sisters and bridal party held one for the bride's relatives. The rehearsal luncheon was held at the Nawalaniec home. At the regular meeting of the Pioneer club held Tuesday, Aug. 19, in Richmond, fifty- eight members and one guest were present. The President, Marian Pretzman, recited a prayer and a dessert lunch was served by the committee in charge. Arrangements will be made for a dinner Sept. 16. The committee includes Frances Heinemann, Violet Wild and Wanda Todd. The Sunshine chairman reported that get-well cards had been sent to Victor Stanek and Harry Dietz, who are ill, and reported that Ann Klabunde was improving. President Pretzman urged all to send cards to those who are ill. The Membership chairman reported seventy-four mem­ bers in the club as of this date. The Correspondence chairman read an invitation to the club from the children of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pretzman to be present at the celebration of their golden wedding Sunday Aug. 31, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Hunter Country club. The Publicity chairman presented the history book for all members to view with up-to- date pictures of installation of officers, strawberry festival, meetings, etc. She also stated there would be another driver's course in September, free to senior citizens. Birthday congratulations were extended to George Neiss, whose birthday fell on the meeting day. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 2. The Lunch committee includes Anton and Hilda Meyer, George and Verona Neiss, Charles Nichols, Millie Overton and Ruth Schmidtz. Community Calendar Lakeland Park Club In Welcome Meeting The first meeting of the Fall season for the Lakeland Park Women's club will be Thur­ sday, Sept. 4, at 12:30 p.m. at the Lakeland Park Community house, 1717 North Sunset drive. It has been designated as a welcome meeting. A cordial invitation is extended to new ladies in the Lakeland Park- Lakeland Shores community. Eligibility for membership in this club is membership in good standing in the Lakeland Park Property Owners association. Officers will present their agenda of events for this coming season. Members are reminded of the "Fish" collection the third Saturday of each month at the Community house from 8 to 11 a.m. Items for this collection could also be brought to the meeting.
