On The Sidelines by Dick Rabbitt The Warriors looked pretty good last Friday night when they defeated Dundee 18 to 13. The game was won down front, and the inexperienced Warrior line held their own against the big bad Cardunals. In fact they did more than hold their own, they wiped them out when it counted. This win has to give them confidence, and in athletics today that is what counts. 9 Coach Ken Swanson uses a formula for his linemen. MASS PLUS ACCELERATION EQUALS FORCE. It must work as his linemen literally tore apart the Cards last Friday night. Those orange footballs you see on the Warrior helmets are based on a point system designed by the coaching staff. Passing the physical fitness test on the opening day of practice. A fumble recovery, an intercepted pass, sacking the quarterback, scoring a T D. A key block on a T.D. Each member of the offensive line receives one if the team gets 200 yds in rushing. The defensive line receives one if they hold the opponents under 100 yds in rushing. Going along a football is received if a pass is knocked down behind the line of scrimmage. A blocked punt or P.A.T. If an individual rushes for over 100 yds, and if a passer has over 150 yds in completions. It is quite a system, the players love it, and it is quite an incentive. So far this season a lot of players are wearing orange footballs on their helmets. The J.V. squad won over Dundee Monday night at Dundee 20 to 6. This type of game gives younger players experience, as all of the players play at least a half, win or lose. These games are played on Mondays, and if you have the time I know the boys will appreciate you attending their games. The J.V.'s of today are the varsity of tomorrow. The "Running Warriors" won a big one last Thursday at West Campus. They defeated the defending champs Barrington by a score of 26 to 30. It broke a dual string composed by Barrington of 20 straight meets. Coach Hutch was quite pleased with his squad, and had nothing but praise for them. On Saturday they took the third place trophy at the Maine West Invitational. This was their best showing ever at the big meet, and they defeated such schools as Hinsdale Central and the states largest school LaGrange (the alma mater of Bill Day). Tomorrow is another big one at Crystal Lake. The Crystal Lake Invitational which gathers in some of the best schools in Northern Illinois. The golfers are off to a fine start, and Coach Cuda is well pleased with his young team. Most of the squad is made up of underclassmen, and they are really doing a bang up job. Didn't know S.I.H. got so involved in a football game until last Friday night. First he was too nervous to eat some of the goodies he provided for the gang in the press box. Then in the closing minutes of the tight ball game, he began to pace up and down the press box. It looks as if we are going to have to tie him down in the future. When the final gun went off, he had a smile a mile wide on his face. Must have been a football score I heard, I can't believe a baseball team got beat 22 to 0. ___ McHENRY COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL 1975-76 Fall Sports Schedule MCHS Girls Field Hockey Team On The Ball This Fall The MCHS Girls 1975 Field Hockey Team is "on the ball" this Fall!
