Wednesday night they lost to Woodstock by the score of 64 to 16, and on Thursday they traveled to Lake Forest only to lose 66 to 17. In the Woodstock meet 2nd place finishes went to: Miki Collins in the 50 yd. freestyle, Vicki Roth in the 500 yd. freestyle. The 200 Medley reiay team of Roth, Collins, Karen Anderson and Carol Petty and the 400 yd. relay team of Rondi Cunat, Lucy Hawkins, Tammie Johnson and Janice Atchison also finished second. Third place awards went to Jan Atchison in both the 100 and 200 freestyle, Tammie Johnson in the 100 yd. butterfly, Vicki Roth in the 200 yd. Individual Medley, "Lucy Hawkins in diving, Mary Seaver in the 100 yd. backstroke, and Carol Petty in the 100 yd. breaststroke. Many of the girls have been trying new events, and in the meet against Lake Forest Lucy Hawkins filled in on the 200 yd. medley relay, Miki Collins attempted the 500 yd. freestyle, and Sandy Janke was lead off swimmer for the 400 freestyle relay team. Tammy Bieschke tried her hand at the 200 yd. freestyle, Tammie Johnson the 200 yd. I.M., and Michelle Fish finished the 50 yd. freestyle only eight-tenths of a second behind the 3rd place swimmer fro Lake Forest. Others who participated were: Lori Blakenhorn, Sue Worzala, who finished second in the backstroke, and Sue Stowell who took 4th in the 100 yd. freestyle in both meets. MCHENRY SCHOOL LEAGUE Unlike last week where three teams shared first place, this week that spot is held by one team alone, but only by a scary >2 game. Tune in next week to see what happens. Gaye Boland once again takes a bow with a high series of 506 and Barb Miller debutes with her high game of 196. "Super Sub", Walt Coari bowled a 536 for high series and Don Prazak rolled a 191 for this week's high game for the mean. The 1-2-4-10 proved no problem for Lyle Luzum, and Elaine Rogers did a fine job in raising her average by 7 pins. Not to be outdone, Bob Lud- wigsen, Dave Gratz, A1 Boeldt, and ($yde Leonard added 5 pins to their averages. 10 10 8 y2 m MCHS Field Hockey Team Tames Tigers Bowlers Headstart Chokers Spare Parts W 6'/2 13* 7 13 7 13 7 Earlier this week, McHenry hosted the Crystal Lake Tigers Field Hockey team and dealt the young opponents an exhausting 5 to 1 loss. Use anything to keep water from coming in...a blanket, clothing or cushion...and stuff it into the opening. Rip up floorboards if necessary to fipd the damaged area. Do something and do it quickly to stop the flow of water. Bail water taken in. If damage is directly at the bow, it might even be necessary to go into reverse to reduce the flow and pressure of water from the hull while repairs are being made. If you are in im mediate danger of sinking, attract attention any way you can...radio, rockets, flares. If there are other boats nearby, stand on the highest point on the boat, lift your arms to a horizontal position and rotate to attract attention. The idea is to be seen and soon. So get plenty of action into your motions. G.A.A. NOTES GAA's fall sport of football has really shown some talent in the girls. » Flag football in the Girls Athletic association of McHenry high school has always been a favorite activity of the organization. This year there are about 30 girls who have signed up to play on one of the two teams. The two teams challenge each other every Monday after school at the West campus field. Each team thinks up their own plays to score points and to keep the opposing team from scoring. All the girls have lots of fun and learn the strategy of the game. It's a fun time for all who participate. It's a good idea to carry a hand pump on board, even if there's an automatic bilge pump, as the boat's power might fail during such an emergency.
