Various locations for construction are being explored, and high on the list is the Valley Hi area. It was disclosed that many pledges of money have been received from municipalities. However, this can be used only to build or to purchase. Of the total $40,000 in pledges is $5,000 from McHenry township, ac cording to Dean. William Hubbard brought up the subject of the proposed increase in postage stamps for which the county must budget. In the discussion that followed, attention was drawn to a law that permits an increase of only 25 per cent, which would allow the price of a ten-cent stamp to go no higher than $.125 rather assorted keys and some liquor were taken from the premises. Paul Matteoni of 2602 Fair Oak lane, McHenry, told county officials that sometime during the night of Nov. 5, his auto was stolen from his garage without the offender having been seen or heard. The county budget has allowed for a raise to .12. Encouraging news for local residents came with approval of a report of the Zoning and Planning committee. Ray McCann, building and zoning enforcing officer, had previously advised that committee of a meeting with representatives of First Mortgage company of Milwaukee, Wis., regarding the problem of partially built homes in Eastwood Manor, McHenry. At that time he disclosed that representatives of Robino-Ladd have agreed to start work after receiving clearance to act on the first twelve homes to rebuild them for sale. The Building and Zoning department issued a $25 "added fee" per home for renewal of building permits that had not expired, legally enabling the work to proceed. The committee agreed that this is a good way to clear up this subdivision and expressed a hope that additional residences can be completed after the initial twelve are finished. The board agreed to an or dinance stating that whenever the Department of Health is requested to make an evaluation of a private water supply system or a private sewage disposal system as part of a sale or transfer of property, a fee of $50 will be charged for evaluation. The evaluation will not be made until this fee is paid.
