A week before the official Veterans' day observance, court members traveled to Downey hospital to entertain the veterans and serve refresh ments. Clara Slegar, newly elected second vice-regent, drove for the women, who in cluded her sister, Margaret Heiden, Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson, who has been on this duty for twenty years; Ann Rodenkirch, Frances Widhalm and Regent Bertilla Freund. A Mass for deceased members will be offered at St. Mary's church at 8 o'clock Sunday, Nov. 16. The Day of Recollection Oct. 28 at St. Patrick's church was termed a "spiritual uplift". Father Lutz of the Pistakee Retreat house, who conducted the ceremoney, inspired members. Mary Freund was responsible for making plans for the retreat. Conduce Freres Is Married In Afternoon Rite St. Patrick's Catholic church was the setting for a pretty fall wedding Saturday, Nov. 8, when Candace A. Freres became the bride of Emanuel Macaluso. They repeated their vows before the Rev. Michael ' Douglas at a 3 o'clock Mass in a church decorated with baskets of red and white flowers. The bride's brother, Jeffrey Freres, served as altar boy at the ceremony. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Freres of 2504 Clara, McHenry, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Macaluso of 9019 Memory Trail, Wonder Lake. Special music at the services included "Time in a Bottle", "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" and "The Wedding Song". The pretty bride chose a white sata-peau floor length gown fashioned with a V- neckline, fitted bodice trimmed with imported Venice lace and pearls, long fitted sleeves and an A-line skirt which flowed into a cathedral length train. Lace applique enhanced the sleeves and the hem and border of the skirt and train. She wore a white picture hat with an attached veil. Her colonial bridal bouquet was composed of white and red roses and baby's breath. Mrs. Rick (Kim) Cooper of McHenry attended her sister as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Freres of Naperville, the bride's sister-in-law, Miss Joan Terselich of Champaign, Miss Alexius Macaluso of Wonder Lake, the groom's sister, Miss Cheryl Cooper of Chicago and Miss Barbara Cusack of Wonder Lake. Little Jennifer Freres, the bride's niece, served as flower girl. The attendants were attired in floor length red satin dresses trimmed with ivory lace. Ivory picture hats highlighted with long ivory ribbons completed their ensembles. Each carried a colonial bouquet of white carnations, red baby roses and baby's breath. The flower girl wore an ivory floor length gown enhanced with embroidery on the bodice and hemline. She carried a EUGENIA CHAPMAN Representative Eugenia Chapman will speak at the November dinner meeting of the McHenry Business and Professional Women's club, to be held Monday evening, Nov. 17, at Martinetti's, Rt. 14, Crystal Lake. Ms. Chapman has served as Democratic representative since 1964. She is a member of the House Committee on Education and is chairperson of the Human Resources com mittee. Rep. Chapman's work in numerous areas connected with education has resulted in awards of a lifetime mem bership in the Illinois Congress of Parents and Teachers, the Illinois Community College Trustees' Outstanding Legislator (she was chief sponsor of the Illinois Public Junior College act), and the Illinois High School-College Drivers Education association commendation. She has four times earned the Independent Voters of Illinois' Best Legislator award, and their Best Freshman Legislator award. Her legislation in the health field brought an honorary membership from the Illinois Hospital association. The U.A.W. Community Action program (CAP) gave her its commendation. Rep. Chapman's efforts specifically for women are well known. Since 1967, she has been a member of the Illinois Commission on the Status of Women. She is a chief co- sponsor in the House of the ERA. In 1972, she was named Illinois honorary member for Delta Kappa Gamma, and the state Woman of the Year by National Organization for Women. She was a delegate to the last Democratic national con vention. Presently, she is serving on the board of directors of the Northwest Mental Health association, and on the Ad visory council of the Salvation Army Community Counseling center. Mrs. Chapman is the wife of a lawyer, Gerald, and mother of four. The family resides in Arlington Heights. Luncheon Feature Of Church Holiday^ Rumbaz One of the highlights of this year's Holiday Rumbaz af Mount Hope United Methodist church in Pistakee Highlands will be a chicken casserole small colonial bouquet of red and white carnations. Mike Davis of Richmond, served the groom as best man. Groomsmen were Robert Freres of Naperville and Steven Freres of McHenry, brothers of the bride, Dennis Macaluso of Crystal Lake, the groom's brother, Rick Cooper of McHenry, the bride's brother-in-law, and Roger Erb of Pell Lake, Wis. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Freres chose a floor length gown of turquoise with a lace insert at the neckline. The groom's mother wore a red floor length dress with flared chiffon sleeves. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception for 230 guests was held at the Crystal Lake Legion Hall. Upon their return from a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin, the newlyweds will make their home in McHenry. luncheon served by members of the Mount Hope United Methodist Women, who are sponsoring the event. The luncheon hours are 11:30 to 1:15, by ticket only. Other features of the Holiday Rumbaz will be the French room, Boutique and Green Plants section.
