It is the hope of many coaches in the county that a better method of selecting the players can be obtained. We again contacted the coaches for their nominations for county honors, and all but two schools responded. For this we are thankful. Any coach would be grateful to have a squad of this caliber regardless of class size. Shark Conference champion Harvard Hornets had a fine quarterback Lon Haldeman, John Conerty, who gained over 900 yards for Marian Central, Scott Knapp a 5'4" 126 lb., defensive end for Bill Mack's Crystal Lake Tigers, and the Warriors own Brett Decker, Brian Nuss, and Tom Ludwig. Cindy Tonyan led in rebounds for the 7th grade and Linda Aim played an outstanding defensive game as well as gaining 13 of our 34 points. The whole team worked very hard but Countryside proved to be the better team this time and beat Montini 44 - 34. Carol Hermann played an exceptionally good game for the 8th grade. She had twice as many rebounds as anyone else and still managed to score 7 points for Montini. Priscilla Kasprzyk led the 8th grade scoring with 9 points. The freshmen will get un­ derway at 6:45 p.m. with the sophs and varsity to follow. Coach Sobczak is hoping to avenge last year's loss to the Elgin school. The local squad was defeated 35 to 25 in last years match in Elgin. At this time the lineup is uncertain, but with wrestle offs in the Annual Orange and Black Nite held Wednesday, Coach Marty will have a better idea of his starting lineup. Let's all try and get out to West Campus Upper Gym on Friday nite for the Opener. Hope to see all of you wrestling fans at the match. It will also be Alumni Nite at West Campus Gym. A special section is being set aside for the Alumni wrestlers which will be located near the announcers table.
