To obtain reliable infor mation about -product safety problems, the Les .Nejedly One 1 Special Person Despite injuries If I could pick a special person to pay tribute to: someone who is not a super star, who is not a great political figure, or a millionaire: He is just the guy next door, a neigh bor, a friend. What makes this person so special to all of those who know him? It's his ability to cope with what has happened to him. Perhaps cope is really not the word, I guess we all cope in one way or another, but if things don't go fright we do our share of letting everyone around us know it. That's what makes this person special, the mishap that has befallen him would make most of us say "Why Me"? Not him, he says, "Thank God I'm still here. I could be dead, or crippled. He can't eat, can hardly talk, has a broken nose, both jaws are broken and wired together, his arm, hand and fingers are in a cast. But yet his sense of humor is unbelievable. Mark Twain or Charles Dickens could say it so much better than I. But thank God for giving us a friend like Les Nejedly. If any of you out there are feeling sorry for yourself take a lesson from a special person. Les, all of us have learned something from you, I guess the most important thing is, "to live each day as though it were our last". To enjoy our families, children, friends, those things that cannot be replaced or brought back once they are gone. * Les Nejedly, you are a special person. PARENTS FOR YOUTH Santa Claus was in Lakemoor Saturday. He went from house to house to visit with the children. Some of you were asleep, some were Christmas shopping. But if anyone was missed it was because the rain was coming down and Santa did not want his reindeer getting a cold, because then they would be sick on Christmas Eve. So if Santa missed anyone just send your letters to him and he will see what he can do. The ladies in Parents for Youth were responsible for bringing Santa to Lakemoor. Thank you Santa Claus. NOT$S FROM YOUR FIRE DEPARTMENT The members of company 3, McHenry Township Fire Protection District, Lilymoor Station, wish one and all a happy holiday season. Plan on making this a safe holiday by being careful, with Christmas tree and decorations. REMEMBER Don't let an accident mar your Holiday Season. Think safety at all times and have a safe and Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. BICENTENNIAL The spirit of Christmas was in the showing of fantastic bake goodies. The report from Ruth Freeman, who was in charge of the bake sale, was that this was one of the best bake sales Lakemoor has ever had. , The handicraft items were great bargains for Christmas shoppers. You are all really some kind of nice people! And Bicen tennial orchids to each and every one of you. Next event for Bicentennial is a Sweetheart dance, so watch for further information. MERRY CHRISTMAS Christmas is a special time of year. Special in so many ways. Many kinds of emotions are experienced at Christmas time, One of generosity for giving to those less fortunate than us, remembering Christmas passed with friends that we haven't seen for a long time, family that may live far a w a y . . . T r i m m i n g t h e t r e e . . . D e c o r a t i n g t h e house... Shopping for gifts ....Baking cookies, cakes, breads, making can dy...Parties with neighbors nad family...Sending Christmas cards with the kids school pictures inside...and letters to Santa. But most of all the spirit of Christmas is the gift of LOVE. To celebrate the birth of Christ. Happy birthday, Jesus. Merry Christmas to all of you from the Reeses. • • « * Church-goers don't nec essarily lead model lives, b u t o n t h e a v e r a g e , / they're each community's c best citizens. Wonder Lake Mary Jean Huff 728-0267 Sleigh Full Of * Good Wishes To Stauffer Family A Santa's sleigh full of good wishes to Len and Diane Stauffer and their children, who are leaving Wonder Lake to move to California. As for mer owner of Choice Realty, Len commented, "I have realized my life long ambition; to reside in a warm and sunny climate. But in leaving Wonder Lake, we have mixed emotions, and many memories that will never be forgotten." The Stauffers would be happy to have friends stop in or call before they leave on Dec. 26. COMMUNAL PENANCE In preparation for Christmas, a Communal Penance Service will be offered at Christ the King church on Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 8 p.m. The children in the lower CCD classes will par ticipate in the Christmas Eve Mass at 8 p.m. on Dec. 24. Some of the children will sing Christmas carols and some will bring forth Christmas banners that they have made. * IN THE DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS WE OBSERVED... ...while shopping., jewelry, jewelry, jewelry - for men! .. almost every store selling - mood rings...dough mixers on sale for $24.95 (we like to slap around a little bread dough while mixing and kneading it by hand - always thought it was great therapy for getting rid of our anger and frustrations) ...the fantastic register totals in the toy stores, $50, $75, and up • so much money spent and so little meaning and ap p r e c i a t i o n . . . t h e M c H e n r y resident who was doing his shopping at "home" on a Friday night, only to find a present from the city as he returned to his car laden with packages - a parking ticket! ...WHILE WATCHING T V, ...Dean Martin's Christmas in California special, which was all California and no Christ mas, with the exception of a few props which seemed out of place, and finally at the very end of the show, "White Christmas", sung by Dino - Bah Humbug!*... and then, Mac Davis, capturing some of the meaning of Christmas by sharing his Special with our youngest and oldest citizens. Their "Joy to the World" brought joy to our world...and, enthusiastically watching the "Homecoming" for yet another year, identifying with the reality of family life and recalling the bittersweet memories of our own post depression Christmases.
