PAGE 10 . PLAINDKAI F.R.TlTF.snAV DECEMBER 30, 1975 A Wonder Lake Mary Jean Huff 728-0267 o Not much is written about the wise men. We know they came from the east to Jerusalem, following a star. They came bearing gifts, and when the star stopped at Beth lehem, they went in and knelt before a tiny child and offered him their treasure. Why? Certainly not because it was "the thing to do." Rather, because there burned in them an ancient thirst to find the Christ and worship Him. Today, as all over the world men foment turbulence and strife, let us seek the Prince of Peace. If each of us,~as-we celebrate the season, would radiate His presence, His star could light the world with peace! *" Your church is the cornerstone of faith. Worship there, and satisfy the longing all men have -- to know their God. Refreshments were then served to the scouts and their families. THOUGHTFULGROUP Much thoughtfulness and generosifyvwas shown by Wonder Lake residents during the holidays. Only one of these groups was the Lakers Snowmobile Club of Wonder Lake. One Wonder Laker felt that the good deed of this club should be mentioned in this way: "Keep up the good work. You deserve much credit for For Your Information Dear friends, COMPASSION is the word we offer for the New Year. All of us have problems and frus trations, yet lack the personal capacity to fully solve them. Few are those who have 'put their house in order' and can relax with a genuine smile of achievement. We are all in the same boat, so let us practice understanding patience and - compassion - for our fellowmen, who are also struggling to find their way. Respectfully, PETER MJISTEN & SON FUNERAL HOME McHenry, Illinois 385-0063 your generosity in passing out the many fruit baskets to the needy in the Wonder Lake area. We're sure you made a lot of people happy on your good will offering at this time of the year. Keep up the good work your club has started!" YOUNG AT HEARTS NEWS "It was the best Christmas party we've ever had - and we've had some really good ones," was the comment of President Marie Robinson on this year's Young at Hearts Christmas party. Her happy group found the Old Mill Inn decorated with special "Merry Christmas to the Young at Hearts" banners as the festivities began. Hostess, Rae Ann Kasney, complimented the bountiful dinner of chicken, beef and ham, along with all the trimmings, with a gaily decorated Christmas cake for dessert. Her husband, Jim, provided entertainment by playing the organ and fulfilling endless requests for many old time favorites as w^ll as traditional Christmas 'songs. The group presented President Robinson with a money tree gift and a personal thank you note from each for all the en thusiastic hard work she has done for the club this past year. v In turn, Marie expressed her appreciation and good wishes to her friends and said she is looking forward to a busy new year with many trips and good times to come. o* HAPPINESS IS - Happiness is...receiving a totally unexpected Christmas present.
