Libertyville Wins J.V, Wrestling Invitational By Dick Rabbitt Libertyville High School won the J.V. wrestling tournament at West Carppus on Saturday by scoring 1454 points. Eight of the North Suburban conference schools plrticipated. Coach Marty Sotfczak and his staff did a super job of running the all day affair. The meet started at 9:00 A.ty. and the last match ended jat 5:40 P.M. Nick DeBlasi at 105 was the only Warrio? to emerge as a champion. Don Rice at 185 finished second. Water Warriors Submerge Foes Coach Mike Shanahn's "Water Warriors" had a good week as they defeated two foes. On Tuesday they defeated Waukegan by the score of 45 to 38, and on Thursday they walloped Crown 121 to 48 winning every event. The sophs defeated Waukegan 45 to 34. In the Crown meet, Lowell Kivley broke the school and pool record when he amassed 246.1 points in diving. . On Friday night they defeated Crown 44 to 41 when Steve Knox's two free throws with 20 seconds left in the game put the old ball game on ice for the locals. On Saturday night a 15 point bulge in thf second period had the Warriors winning going away 57 to 39 at Lake Forest. The McHenry freshman B basketball squad won their fourth game of the year as they defeated Mundelein 56-41. Ken Schmitt paced the winners with 20 points. Rich Stull scored only 8 points but they all came back during the 4th quarter as Mundelein crept to within 8 points. <= Using their full court press the freshman rolled up a 19-10 lead in the first quarter. After the second quarter McHenry increased their lead to 10 prints. The ihird quarter saw Ken Schmitt score from outside as well as inside on rebounded shots as he accounted for 12 points out of the 16 scored by McHenry. McHenry's 'starting five played well both offensively and defensively. Players who saw action included: Rich Stull. Ed Walker.
