"Brenda" tells us Ed Lescher, a graduate of MCHS, dropped in to talk about publicity for the McHenry County College basketball games. In the second issue last week we mentioned wanting stories - not just box scores. Reports have appeared on the sports page in the past. Attendance at the MCC games is not good. Printing a schedule might help. Ed worked hard to start a band that plays for all home games. He is also trying to stir up interest in a school song. Hope his enthusiasm spreads. As this is written there is no news on the baseball scramble. With spring training only three weeks away, it look like somebody or something will have to give Montini Middle School The Montini basketball teams scored another double victory on Tuesday, Feb. 3, by sweeping Fox River Grove's seventh and eighth graders. The eighth grade Mustangs won handily by defeating the Kagles 45-20. Ron Waytula was the leading scorer with 12 points, while Butch Pintozzi followed with 7 and Mike Sharp and Tim Sabatka had 6 apiece. Sabatka and Bob Moehling were the leading rebounders with 7 each. The seventh grade Mustangs won in overtime, 31-20. Tom Sharp led the scoring with 20 points. By Dick Rabbitt The "Fighting" Warriors of Coach Ken Ludwig will engage in two more North Suburban conference games this weekend. On Friday night they host the Barrington Broncos and on Saturday night travel down the river to Dundee. The Warriors find them selves alone in 4th place in the standings, and are anxious to make upward. In the opening game of the conference schedule the Warriors trimmed the Broncos 66 to 49 at Barrington. Since that time the Broncos have been a struggling ball club winning only one conference game, and are alone in the celler in the North Suburban, which by the way doesn't happen very often in any sport. Minus a number of players due to training infractions, the Broncos have resorted to a underclass lineup, which in the past hasn't proved too suc cessful in the North Suburban, which their record indicates this season. It will be ORANGE NITE AT BUCKNER GYM and everyone is asked to wear some kind of orange apparel to the game. On Saturday the Warriors travel to Dundee. The Cards have been a mystery team so far this season. Coming close, but not winning. In the earlier meeting between the two clubs the Warriors came back from behind to win 61 to 57 in a thrilling game. The Cards are always tough at home, and the Warriors will have to be up to beat them on the Cardunal court. The cards are 7th in the North Suburban, winning 2 and losing 6, and likewise will be looking to move up in the standings.
