PAGE 12 - PLAINDEALER-FRIDAY. MARCH 12, 1»7« t̂fend \ Religious faith is very much like a mighty mountain -- its peak seemingly lost in the clouds. On the lower slopes all you can do is plod onward and upward. You cannot see your goal or even know the many turns of the trail as it rises through the mist. Yet on the high reaches, the brightness of the sun is everywhere. And with fascination you can look down on the clouds while pursuing your path to the peak. We are trying to say: Never get discouraged in your quest for Christian faith and strength. One Sunday in church doesn't answer all our questions. One earnest prayer doesn't set up a communications center with God. But every rising step brings us closer to that vantage point where the heights are clothed in brightness, and faith looks down on the clouds. Women veterans who at tended school under the GI bill between June 1, 1966 and Oct. 24, 1972, are reminded they have less than six months to file claims for a special VA payment equalizing benefits with male veterans who were married while in training. Deadline for filing is July 1, 1976. Payment averages about $30 per month for women vets in training and married at that time. Women veterans who trained since October 1972 have already been paid, as have women veterans who proved to VA while they were in training that their husbands were permanently disabled and in capable of self-support. Most pacemaker patients are senior citizens whose hearts have been damaged by the aging process or some form of heart disease. But, pacemakers have also been used in infants with congenital defects in heart rhythms. Pacemakers are sometimes necessary after critical open heart surgery in infants and have helped children to lead normal, healthy, active lives. 75 Kawasaki TRUCKLQAD ass SALEI HURRY- WHILE SUPPLY LASTS! $ FACTORY REDUCED now only . /3 MWfllflKI m AA H-1500 1*1199 • 498cc triple cylinder engine supplies lots of smooth quiet power • Fade-free hydraulic disc brake •Electronic CDI Ignition • Dual helmet holders 0 Truly a super street performer TRI--STAR CYCLES 4911 Northwest Hwy. Nearly 15 percent of all in dividual 1040 tax returns are found to have one or more errors. These have to be corrected before your return can be processed. Some mistakes can be corrected by IRS - math errors in many instances. Others, however, require correspondence with the taxpayer in order to obtain the correct information, such as missing W-2's, incorrect or incomplete Social Security number or neglecting to sign the return. "The various kinds of errors found on tax returns can delay a refund for as much as a month," says Charles F. Miriani, IRS District Director for northern Illinois. "Most of these errors could A-l HEARING AID SERVICE Free Loaners - Complete Service on all Makes Custom Earmolds-30 Day Trial on New Aids Try Before You Buy! Maico-Zenith-Radio Ear Qualitone R0BT. The most common single error found on tax returns this season is the failure on the part of taxpayers to claim the $30 for each exemption. For a family of four this adds up to $120. This is entered on Line 16b on the 1040 return or Line 13b on the 1040A. Individuals whose earned income for last year was less than $8,000 and have one or more dependent children may be eligible for the Earned In come Credit of up to $400. Check the instructions with the tax return for complete in formation. Another common error is made by taxpayers who claim the standard deduction. The $750 for each exemption is already computed into the tax table. Some taxpayers who use tax tables claim the $750 exemption a second time. This m a k e s a c o n s i d e r a b l e d i f ference in the amount owed or to be refunded. The greatest number of mistakes found on tax returns are the result of math errors. A simple error almost anywhere on a return can make a con siderable difference in the final result.
