The players Finley brought to his Oakland team may show up real good. Besides, Finley got rid of a couple of dissatisfied stars whose value will decrease as their wage demands go up. Like him or not -- Mama Finley didn't raise a dumb son. It seems that many sports fans have turned cold on big stars who want a slice of the moon. There are fans who hope the major league owners will forget Andy Messersmith this year. The courts made him a free agent so now he wants a bundle of cash to play ball.
