IFETIM SSSgr ud / j / /• • / i Becky Mihevc is shown with her essay on "Once in a Lifetime". i. Kristen Poirier, Kim Kurowski, Karen Antonou and Gregg Fields (in front), show their pride in celebration of the country's 200th birthday. In Becky Mihevc's fourth grade class at Edgebrook school the children have written themes based upon the idea of living at the time of the celebration of the country's Bicentennial. The title assigned was "Once in a Lifetime". As Ben Franklin would have shown his pride at Tom Jef ferson's Declaration of In dependence, so did Becky and her classmates Kristen Poirier, Kim Kurowski, Karen Antonou and Gregg Fields show how proud they are to be celebrating the country's 200th birthday. Becky's winning theme is as follows: "It's a very good feeling to be living. Bicentennial com mercials are okay, but I don't like it when they say 'Happy Birthday, America, Happy Birthday to you' on an oatmeal box. Some toy stores are making Bicentennial toys, but what will kids do with them when the Bicentennial is over? Probably play with them for awhile, but not very much. Their parents might buy them new toys and the children won't play with the Bicentennial toys anymore. - "In some ways the Bicen tennial is nice--for instance, they have sales in stores, you do projects in school, people have Bicentennial flags, and on television they have 'two hundred years ago today'. That commercial has good in formation so I would say to someone 'I like the Bicen tennial !' to shop- i X ' Lleell«r u and V°«r i^diretW"1 tttng and m ĥUtn"̂ - 51036 otTû <**rienC put their fantasL„.makers offer a put their f^J^^yrnakers offer a juesday. Sage is the perfect accompa niment for pork or poultry. Add a sprinkle to cottage cheese, too. and try a pinch in vegetable soup. Dill seed is delicious sprinkled on potatoes, cole slaw and macaroni.
