On Thursday behind the one hit pitching of Steve Knox, the sophs won easily over Lake Zurich in six inning, due to the ten run rule. Marty Denner and Mike Krasucki each had two hits. On Saturday at McCracken Field the sophs swept a doubleheader from Lake Forest winning the opener 10 to 3 behind the four hit pitching of Bobby Hansen. Dough Oeffling with three hits paced the local attack. In the nightcap, sparked by Jeff Partenheimer's two run homer in the first inning, the sophs added 3 more in the in­ ning and go on to a 10 to 1 victory. Dave Covalt scattered 5 hits for the win. Hard rain forced the decision to postpone the opening until next Saturday, April 17, before time trails could be started and fans were assured that their rain checks would be good on that night or any other Saturday race night this season.
