By the time all the unexpected drop-ins arrived, there were thirty folks camping in five trailers and four tents One member even slept in a bedroll on the ground. Some "r the folks there were the Ler and Laura Ackerman family. Ken and Judy Beck family, and Chuck and Bev Ackerman family. Others joining the ma McPherson of ipring Grov^JMwL Hubert Johnson of Milwaukee. Jtoanita yckerman and Vince Schiavoni ropped by also. *Hear that the Walkingtons and the Benoys went North to Legion lake camping this past weekend, no particular details so more next week. The Walt Lows went camping again with that group; Adams, Granaths and Grahams. Fun was |iad by all even though the weatHer didn't cooperate completely. Heard that a couple of them went for a walk and were lost for a few hours; others played cards, hor seshoes, fished and just did nothing. Of course, too much eating but, oh well. Ken and Judy Beck and family and Bev and Chuck Ackerman were found camping up near Fort Atkinson, Wi., and Bonnie and Roger Petska and boys visited Ken Petska up near Eau Claire, Wi. /' HERE AND THERE Leonard and Phyllis Ackerman are very grateful for the big rock they have in their front yard. A car involved in an accident Saturday night would no doubt have landed in their house had the rock not been there. Roger and Bonnie Petska, with their two boys, spent the holiday weekend with Rog's brother Kenneth at Tomah. Wi. Resea Ackerman and Charles Robinet, on leave from the Navy, are at her parents' home, the Charles Ackermans, to complete plans for their wedding, June 11. Diane Linstad drove down from Appleton last Thursday to attend the graduation of her brother, David Christopher, from West campus. GRADUATION PARTY Cindy Spencer, daughter of Sherman and Mary Spencer of Wonder Lake, was honored guest at a party at her home following graduation exercises at Parkland Junior high last Friday night. A decorated cake centered the refreshment table. Those attending the happy ^occasion were Leonard and Cheri Spencer family. Alan and Kris Spencer family, Betty and Gene Garrison of Hebron, and Jim and Dolly Spencer of Woodstock CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY TWICE A fifty-sixth wedding an niversary is something that should not be passed over lightly. At least that is your reporter's opinion. So we we^e very happy to hear that Byron and Lucille Sowers spent Jthe week of May 13 (their weeing date) in the EJfingharn area visiting members pf Byron's family and really enjoying themselves. They had been driven down there by their daughter, Betty Garrison. On Sunday, May 23, they were honored by their children and their families. Everyone was present with the exception of two members- granddaughter, Donna Spencer, had to work that day and their son, John, and his family who are living in Rhode Island which made it difficult for them to get here. We are very happy for Mr. and Mrs. Sowers that most of their family could be with them. THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY Muck and Doe Brennan were among the relatives to help Helen and Lou Winn celebrate their thirteth wedding an niversary on Monday of this past week. ABOUTTOWN Recent visitors at the Brennan-Hepburn home were Marion and Bill Reinwall of McHenry and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Johnson of Waukegan. Last Sunday, Mrs. Hepburn and Art Jensen drove to Kenosha to visit the Russell Soddys, Miss Mary Swenson and Mrs. John Madison. Darold and Lori Thomas and family of Pheonix, Az., spent a couple of days with his mom, Mabel Thomas in McHenry. Then the morning they left, they all had breakfast with Doris Low, Walt had gone to work. It was a very enjoyable breakfast as it had been three years since Doris had seen Darold. Of course mom, Mabel Thomas, was there for break fast too. Althea Walkington and Mary Spencer were fortunate enough to find time to travel to Elgin one day last week to see a display of Bicentennial quilts. They enjoyed them so much that we are really sorry that we couldn't make it too. Sounds like there is quite a history behind some of them. Those to be shown in Richmond at the social hall on June 19 will also be of great interest to those of us around this area as we will probably know a lot of the people involved, now and then. So mark your calendar for June 19. Keith and Linda Davis arrived at the Zell home on Thursday of last week for the holiday weekend, from Penn sylvania. Keith is Phyllis' son. They left for home on Sunday. Saturday. Phyllis had a family picnic in the house because of the rain, but Keith got to see all the aunts and uncles anyhow. LADIES "500" The ladies "500" card club met at the home of Clara Cristy last week and had an enjoyable afternoon Blanche Howe went home with high score for the afternoon and Clara Cristy stayed home and got low score. ; BIRTHDAYS Happy birthday tp^ll of these lovely people on June 7; June Oxtoby, Larry Oonk, Dawn Cerny, Emma Ortlieb, Laurie Hartjes, and Lee Strom. He said he would make other flights before attempting to capture a $92,500 prize offered by a British industrialist to the first person to fly a human- powered craft in a figure eight around two pylons a half- mile apart. IMIu "Service Tip of the Week" "Gas mileage is 90% the driver." With the emergence of high costs, gas economy has become of great importance to the motorist. Jack rabbit starts, stop and go driving, snarled traffic on today's busy expressways, all lead to poor fuel con sumption. Great gas mileage is no secret, common sense is the rule of thumb.
