It told of the installation of new trans- Atlantic telephone cables, permitting thousands of direct dialed telephone calls to cross e ocean at the same time. A special wlcome was ex­ tended to the Van Kennedys, who have been absent from the group for quite some time due to injuries suffered in the fire that demolished their home. After the movie, Van Ken­ nedy spoke about the crucial rieed for protection from fire in the home. He told of the couple's near tragic ex­ perience, when their home was consumed by fire, and stressed the fact that it could happen to anyone at anytime. He suggested that everyone look over their homes, pinpointing convenient exits, and also to Ecology Sewing Class Offered Young People McHenry County college will offer a course in ecology sewing this summer through the office of Community Services. The class is for boys and girls who have completed the sixth grade. Students will develop a knack toward managing the sewing machine using scrap materials without concern for fit, thus realizing satisfaction and maintaining an interest in sewing. The student will enjoy creating puppets, book and record covers, pillows, etc. The class will be from 1 to 3 p.m. for eight weeks starting Tuesday, June 8 at McHenry High-West. There is a maximum class size of twenty students. Registration for the class will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on the first night of class. For further information call the Office of Community Services 455-3700. % Change Date Of Circle Picnic To Mid-June The date on the Marcia Mary Ball circle picnic at the home of Dorothy Steinbiss has been changed to Tuesday, June 15, at noon. Following the picnic luncheon there will be a short meeting, - then a white elephant sale, games, and a social afternoon. The work days for the Fall festival and Bazaar will begin on Tuesday, June 8 at 10 a.m. at the church. Your ideas and help will make the event a success. Everyone enjoyed the delicious meal. The dessert was a beautifully decorated cake in honor of the sixtieth wedding anniversary of Marie and Albert Mullere. Esther Sims read a short story from Guideposts magazine, "I'Jl Never Forget You", followed by a prayer. The June 12 meeting was announced and the Dan Creamers volunteered to act as host and hostesses, along with the Adolph Borchers and the Elmer Stanges. The time is 6 p.m. Ethel and Clyde Bailey were in charge of the program. The group was divided into four sections and Mae Stinespring had each group act out an old- time song. McHENRY 385-7500 Afternoon Mass Unites Couple At a 1:30 nuptial Mass in St. Patrick's church, Miss Mary Lou Guzzardo and Mr. E.T. Cunningham, III, repeated their vows before the Rev. Fr. Michael Douglas Saturday, May 29. Gary Guzzardo, brother of the bride, played the organ during the ceremony for selections including "Ave Maria" and "I Need You To Turn To" sung by Mark Bartos. David Guzzardo, brother of the bride accompanied on the guitar. The church was decorated with bouquets of yellow pompom daisies and white carnations at the altar. .Miss Guzzardo is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Guzzardo, 3302 W. 3rd avenue, McHenry. Her bridegroom is the son of E.T. Cunningham, 1515 S. Ashland, Park Ridge, and Mrs. Doreen Cunningham, Grove Terrace, Elk Grove Village. The lovely bride wore a gown of white polyester and Venice lace with a full skirt falling into a chapel length train. Lace ran the full length of the bouffant sleeves and a lace ruffle cascaded down the back of the skirt, forming an apron effect. A matching camelot headpiece held a long mantilla, edged in lace. She carried a bouquet of cascading yellow pompom daisies, white roses, white stephanotis and baby's breath. Attending her sister-in-law as matron of honor was Carla Guzzardo, DeKalb. The bridesmaids were Denise Cunningham, Elk Grove Village, and Janice Cun­ ningham, Champaign, both sisters of the groom ; Margie Birmingham, McHenry, and Susan Rutter, Crystal Lake. The attendants were attired in lemon yellow, halter style dresses with matching midriff length, long sleeved jackets. Each wore a yellow pompom daisy in her hair and carried bouquets of yellow pompom daisies and baby's breath. Michael Cunningham of Virginia served his brother as best man. Kevin Cunningham, brother of the groom, Park Ridge, Joseph Guzzardo, brother of the bride, McHenry, Randy Stuckwich, Wheeling, and Michael Szwiec, Palatine, were groomsmen. The bride's mother chose a blue print chiffon dress and a wristlet corsage of blue pompom daisies and white stephanotis. A reception was held at the American Legion home, McHenry. A cousin of the bride, Katie Getner, circulated the guest book. McCall exchanged vows before the Rev. Eugene Baumhofer, Saturday af­ ternoon, May 29, at a 2:30 nuptial Mass. The church was decorated with flowers in apricot, yellow and white with white bows. "Bells of St. Mary's" and other selections were offered by soprano, Cynthia Jones. Miss Newkirk is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Newkirk, 4222 Crestwood drive, McHenry, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Richard McCall, Chicago. The fair-haired bride wore a gown of bone chiffon, voile and lace with lace inserts in the sleeves and down the front. She wore a garden picture hat with an attached tulle veil. Mrs. Michael (Terry) Cox, Phoenix, Az., attended her sister as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were sisters Judy Newkirk, Des Plaines, and Virginia Stepina, Crystal Lake, Katie McCall, Gunnison, Co., and Laura McCall, Crystal Lake. They chose bone and apricot flowered chiffon dresses and complementary horsehair cartwheel hats threaded with green ribbon to accent the floral print of their floor length gowns. Jim McLaughlin, Wisconsin, Parent's Wedding Anniversary Date Chosen By Bride Sara Lynn Richards was united in marriage to Thomas A. Janik on the date of her parents' thirtieth wedding anniversary, May * 30. The 4 o'clock Sunday ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Ralph J. Smith at the First United Methodist church, McHenry. Music was provided by Mrs. John Leighty and Scott Curry, soloist. Miss Richards is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Richards, 809 N. Lillian street, McHenry, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Edward Janik, 2504 Hyde Park avenue, McHenry. The bride wore a gown of candlelight ivory silk organza with an empire waist, semi-full skirt falling to a lace flounce and chantilly lace bishop sleeves. She chose a cathedral length veil trimmed in chantilly lace. Attending her sister as matron of honor was Mrs. Donald Stinespring, Spring Grove. Bridesmaids were Linda Janik, sister of the groom, McHenry, Mrs. Richard Wright, Wonder Lake, and Lexi Timson, East Alton, II. Aimee Laslowski, a cousin of the groom, was flower girl. All the attendants wore gowns of apricot crinkle gauze with ivory English lace, kabuki attended his friend as best man. Groomsmen were Glenn Griffin, Wayne, II., Tom Spear, Tipton, la., Dave Sheesley, Carpentersville, and Dave Taylor, Wisconsin. The ushers were the groom's three brothers-in-law, Christain Newkirk, Michael Stepina and Michael Cox. The bride's mother chose a floor length, yellow gown and an apricot glamelia corsage. Mrs. McCall was attired in an apricot, floor length gown with a chiffon floral jacket-cape. A dinner reception was held for 160 gnests at the McHenry Country club, followed by dancing. The bride's two younger sisters assisted at the reception. The honeymoon couple will travel through Illinois and Wisconsin to Lookout Moun­ tain, Golden, Co., where they will make their home. Both are antique buffs and will furnish their rustic home with a combination of antiques collected during their courtship and received as wedding gifts. The bride is a graduate, with a Bachelor of Arts in Com­ munication Disorders, from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater and a certified speech therapist in Illinois and Wisconsin, where she taught before moving to Colorado. She is presently employed at Coors Container Corp, Golden, Co. The groom is a graduate of Milton college, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with an ArWnajor. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Branded Steak House, Crystal Lake, for 140 guests. Out of town guests attending were from Chicago, Sault Ste. Marie, Mi., Sarasota, Fl., and Fargo, N.D. The bride and groom are both graduates of McHenry high school. The bride is a graduate of Northwestern university, School of Medical Technology and the groom is a graduate of Eastern Illinois university. Both young people hafve received their Bacjielor of Science degrees.
