Legislators Join Drive For Pikarsky Removal [ SERVICE NEWS| The four legislators from the :V*rd district have joined a bipartisan drive by more than forty-five suburban legislators to seek the removal or resignation of Milton Pikarsky as chairman of the Regional Transportation Authority < KTA) board. Stale Senator Jack Schaffer, K-Cary, and Representatives Thomas Hanahan. D- McHenry; Cal Skinner, Jr., R- Crystal Lake; and Bruce Waddell, R-Dundee, said they joined the suburban group in signing a letter to be sent to public officials throughout the six-county RTA district asking that other units of government adopt resolutions calling for Pikarksy's removal. The letter so asks the officials to en- lorse action by suburban RTA directors to block the approval of the RTA's budget for next year until Pikarsky steps down. The letter alleges that unden Pikarsky's chairmanship, the RTA has become little more than an extension of the Chicago Transit Authority. It also notes that during the current fiscal year less than one-third of the RTA's operating revenues were raised ir. In calling for local action, the letter states: "We legislators are also deeply concerned with the failure of the RTA to deal with the problems of suburban residents, and the inadequacy of Mr. Pikarsky to provide proper administration of the RTA. We support the position of the suburban directors and ask you to do likewise." The four legislators said one purpose of the letter is to show the concern of suburban residents over the RTA tran scends normal debate between political parties. "This is not a Republican or Democratic' issue," they stated, "It is a very basic question over whether or not the millions of people in suburban areas are going to share equally iri the benefits of a governmental unit which they are being taxed to support." They added while they support the effort to remove Pikarsky, they are not sur- COVER OUTDOOR FURNITURE WITH £**** 260 sq. ft. of tough plastic folded on a handy 30 inch roll 5 Most Popul Dust proof Water proof Covering i^Nt>REDS of l\ / .America for Homemakers, Housewives, Do It-Yourselfers, Campers.
