Don't call us. We'll call you. Have heard about the error in our reports of the Bimbo- DeVries softball game. Hie story came out as 15 to 12 i :ore. It should have been 15 to Reminds us of the fellow who ttended a game at Wrigley ield where the opposition cored 19 runs. Telling his wife about it, he ad to answer her question, Who won?" From our calendar: Why is it that things heat up tnd cool down, but boil down tnd freeze up' On a rather dull afternoon, awe got a big lift when Ed Sonslett came to see us. To meet the deadline, this has to be written before the holiday weekend -- even though the excitement will be over when the paper hits the newstands Sound crazy? * Well, that's show business. FLASH!-- Pat Wirtz asks that S.I.H. remind you of the All-Star softball game at the V.F.W. Tuesday night at 7:30. ^ If you want some fun, go to that game. You will think it is the deciding game of a World Series. They come to play and play for keeps. Seems to be a lot of fuss about that team on Chicago's north side. The front office took a stand- pat attitude during the trading season. Maybe the manager is not a genius. We dunno. But, give him some pitchers instead of throwers and they will make him look good. On the south side it is ap parent that the Paul -Richard influence has put the pitching staff in good shape. But, oh those hitters! J McHenry | Pigtail J League * %********** 4MMM? Monday, June 28: Rusty Nail won twice over the Chalet by scores of 9-5 and 3-1; Old Bridge beat House of David 9-8 in ten innings, Cork and Cleaver won two from McHenry Hospital by scores of 10-0 and 13-3. Robino Ladd split with Fireside Inn, losing 10-9 in the last inning and then in game two scored 6 runs to come from behind and win by one run, 11-10. Regular scheduled games Wednesday, June 30: IRusty Nail won two over Robino Ladd, 9-6 and 12-8; House of David took a pair from Fireside^ "Inn by scores of 11-2 and 20-13; Old Bridge split with Cork and Cleaver and The Chata won twiice over McHenry Hospital 4-0 and 19-3. Doubleheaders scheduled for Wednesday, July 7: House of David vs. Rusty Nail. McHenry Hospital vs. Robino Ladd. Fireside Inn vs. Old Bridge. The Chalet vs. Cork and Cleaver. With two-thirds of the season complete Rusty Nail holds a sliin one game advantage over Mouse of David. Cork ahd Cleaver is two games behind the leaders with Old Bridge four games back. The Chalet is five games back and Robino Ladd eight full games behind. The question still remains, who will win the league title this year? The big game this week is Rusty Nail versus House of David. The top two teams could decide the outcome, or at least make it more clear who has the best shotut first place, with two - victories Wednesday night. A split would leave Rusty Nail still ahead by one game. But next week the Nail plays in a doubleheader with Old Bridge and three weeks from this Wednesday play the Cork and Cleaver in a single game. That is 5 games versus the tougher teams in the league. The House of David plays McHenry Hospital in a doubleheader next week, but must play The Chalet, Robino Ladd and Cork and Cleaver in Single games. The last two teams hive already beaten The irlier in the season. hot count the Cork and out yet! They have all the teams in the ie except The Chalet, who 4hem 5-1 early in the season, A twin win over The Chalet keeps them in an ex cellent position in case The Nail or The House lose any key games during the final stretch. Of course TTie Chalet will be fighting for a playoff spot so it should be an exciting doubleh eader. The Old Bridge is not going to take first this year but a playoff spot looks closer and closer. Two games this Wednesday versus Fireside Inn are a must. The Inn beat them bad early in the season and I am sure a little revenge psych up Thb Bridge. Next week is a must double win over Rusty Nail,- otherwise The Chalet with a few wins could find themselves in a tie for fourth with the Bridge.
