A Helping Paws worker is on duty six days a week at the County Shelter, 11606 Banford road, Woodstock from noon to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 to 1 p.m. Saturday, to handle adoptions of animals. Helping Paws now has its own phone, 338-3992, at the County Shelter, as well as its office phone, 459-2641, reachable Monday through Friday from 10 to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. The Helping Paws office address is P.O. Box 205, Crystal Lake, 60014. This means that if for any reason you don't reach someone at the Helping Paws office, you'll have an alternate number to call. The County Shelter phone is338-7040,hours 9 to 5 daily, Saturdays from 10 to noon. Those who wish to adopt an animal will be asked to sign a legal and binding contract covering the adoption. Every worthwhile Humane society operates in a similar manner using a contract to protect the animal. An adoption fee will be charged for male and female dogs. This fee breaks down a County registration fee, a per­ cent to be refunded after proof of spaying or neutering, and a donation. The adoption fee for male and female cats is similar. Next week we'll give you some idea of the information supplied at pie time of adoption and certain requirements of the contract. In the adult class, Jerry Weber of Lilymoor won for the largest fish caught, in the under 16 class. Danny Odarczenko of Lakemoor won for the largest caught, also. In the fishing derby, Vickie Havelka and Rill Garbacz each won a rod for the most fish caught on Derby day. Vickie and Bill are both of Lakemoor. The rods were donated by Art Tulley. During mid-June several folks, all relatives except one came here from Pennsylvania to Lilymoor to catch up on events that have taken place since Cherie and Dick moved here They are Mr. and Mr.s William Mumma, Dick's parents; Mr. and Mrs. John Wilt and children, Donald and Trudi, Dick's sister and brother-in-law; Wayne Mumma, Dick's brother and Kathy Witmer, Wayne's girlfriend . The Mummas are from Harrisburg and the Wilts are from Duncannon, Pa. Even UNDER THE WEATHER A short while bapk Roy and Eunice Tobey received word that Roy's sister Grace Willson suffered third degree burns on her hand due to her spilling hot grease. Word also came telling the Tobeys that Grace's husband, Bert, is hospitalized in Margate, Fl., because of a blood clot. T , BIRTHDAYS A happy birthday to John Victor on the tenth, to Jean Begg on the eleventh, to Louis Schueler on the' thirteenth, and to Chris Sances on the four­ teenth. I hope each of you have a very happy day and may each of you celebrate many many more birthdays. A BELATED BIRTHDAY Our grandson became a great big one-year old on July 3. It seems to me that when Chad's birthday rolls around, many of the relatives are away for the holiday so his big day will have to be celebrated either early or late. TIL NEXT TIME Motorcycle Rodeo For Fair Grandstand Show The McHenry County Fair plans a new- and exciting grandstand show Friday, Aug. 6 - a Motorcycle Rodeo, an­ nounced Chuck Weingart, president of the McHenry County Fair association. "We are seeking riders to compete in this event. Cash, prizes and trophies will be awarded to the winners in each scheduled event," he said. Local and area riders are invited to pick up and submit entries at the fair office on the fairgrounds, Woodstock. All events to be run off are open to both men and women. Events will include a slalom race set up in front of the grandstand, a broad jumping contest, a slow race and the ultimate skill contest-" Wheelies." Trick and fancy exhibition riding by the "Spirit of '76" professional team plus exhibition two-wheel driving as far as possible in a new automobile will be featured.
