JULY 28, 1976 Survey shows preference for plastic in choice of containers for kitchen Plastic kitchen accesso­ ries offer the best dollar value to consumers when compared with similar items made of other ma­ terials, according to -53.8 percent of the home econ­ omists responding to a recent survey. Just over 37 percent thought metal accessories offered the best value, while glass and ceramic items trailed far behind. Conducted anonymously by Borden's Lustro-Ware plastic housewares divi­ sion, the survey , also indi­ cated that the majority of homemakers preferred to buy kitchen accessories (canisters, bread boxes, recipe card boxes and the like) in complete matched sets instead of individually. Seventy percent of the responding home econo­ mists preferred covered plastic storage containers to glass for refrigerator storage of prepared foods, with square and rectangu­ lar shapes preferred for easy stacking and space saving.
