If76 Drum And Bugle Competition COLOR IT MUSIC Fiesta day ended Sunday night in McHenryi And it closed on a high note, as eight drum and bugle corps (six of which were in competition; thrilled the huge crowd at McCracken field with music and marching. Extra bleachers were borrowed from numerous athletic fields in the McHenry area in anticipation of the large crowd. After all seats were filled standing room only tickets were sold as the record crowd of 2,700 viewed what many in attendance called "the best yet" The sui»disappeared and the field lights substituted as three hours of entertainment passed quickly. When the last note from a horn and the final beat of a drum were heard, the Eockford Phantom Regiment received a standing ovation as it was awarded first place honors with a score of 82.95. Following Rockford were the Oakland Crusaders of Etibocke, Canada, 78.25; the Madison Scouts, 77.00; The Guardsmen of Schaumburg, 76.05; the Squires of Watkins Glen, N.Y., 68.45 and the Racine Kilties of Racine, Wi., 64.25. L-jarppj The Rockford Phantom Regiment steps toward the spectators with and they received first place among the six corps in competition, precision in both music and marching.
