COMMUNITY SADDENED The community expresses sympathy to the family of Chancey Harrison who passed away this past weekend. Mr. Harrison has been a lifelong resident of this community and a well known farmer of the area. Mental Health Clinic Receives New Filing System The Family Service and Mental Health Clinic for McHenry County is pleased to receive a new Lektriever Filing system from its Woman's auxiliary. The Lektriever has been donated by the auxiliary at the cost of $6,368. The Lektriever arrived in time for the clinic's move into its new facility, which is proceeding on schedule. The Family Service and mental Health Clinic Woman's auxiliary maintains a membership of approximately 250. "This does not include the 114 clients now employed in the sheltered workshop or the thirty-three in the homebound program." Rundquist reported. Goodwill is a United Way agency serving the han­ dicapped of northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin in a learning, working and earning program of rehabilitation, testing and evaluation, representing nearly a half- million in tax savings. The placements were in factory work, laundry , janitorial, maintenance, office work, hotel, bakery, hospital (housekeeping), training facilities supervisor, truck driving, baby sitting service, homemaking and other programs. mental health within the area through services and programs. The auxiliary engages in a number of projects throughout the year which include a Fall Fashion show, Fair Diddley, monthly Produce days, Tag day and community seminars on mental health. According to Rundquist, when the people reach a production norm, they are given an orientation course in job application before being referred to potential em­ ployers. Goodwill keeps a file of potential employers and also a complete trainee progress record to aid in placement. Rundquist reported that the placement service is the goal of the entire rehabilitation program, since it is used as a motivation oriterion during the training and evaluation pericd. Goodwill employees rate very highly in attendance, punc­ tuality and inter-relationship with co-workers and super­ visors. * * * * There's only one way to be happy and that lies in mental satisfaction. <. Clothing Candidates Although warm and humid, St. John's Lutheran church in Woodstock was bustling with 4- H Clothing members when the girls showed how they learn by doing to select, construct, accessorize, and model gar­ ments that reflect fashion trends as well as their own skill and lifestyles. Chosen as the top dress revue models who will be attending the State "Freedom", Fair this year is included Joy Vyduna, McHenry. Three garments were selected as tops in the area of construction. The girls who worked so diligently on the$e beautiful outfits were Diane Heinrich, Crystal Lake; Judy Vyduna, McHenry; and Paula Ronzkowski, Woodstock. These garments will be sent to the State Freedom Fair. Chosen as best first and second year clothingfgarments were Holly Jurs, Crystal Lake; and Jodi Beutel, McHenry. Welcome To Woodstock On Wednesday, July 21, 125 Japanese LABO exchanges arrived at O'Hare International airport for a month's stay in Illinois. The exchangees spent Thursday, July 22, in Cham- paign-Urbana for a one-day orientation session and then proceeded to their various rendezvous throughout the state of Illinois. Their stay of approximately one month will be filled with lots of sightseeing, County and State Fair, trips to cities, as well as visiting various farms.
