Servo- Motors. He has been a member of the RAE Engineering department for the past three years with the responsibility for Electrical Design and New Product Development. Kuhar holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla and has worked in the motor industry for more than seven years. He, his wife, Kathy, and their two children reside in McHenry Shores. Dr. Mlllc To Join Department Of Medical Group DR. Z. GENE MILIC One of only sixty-five physicians in the United States to have completed a fellowship and is now eligible for cer tification in the subspecialty of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility will be joining the staff of the McHenry Medical group. Dr. Z. Gene Milic will be joining the Medical group Sept. 1. The addition of Dr. Milic will allow the OB-GYNE depart ment of the Medical group to offer a broader range of medical care to its obstetrical and gynecological patients. Dr. Milic is the only obstetrician in the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin area who has completed an approved training program in this unique subspecialty and is board eligible according to the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Justen and Son, West McHenry, will occur Saturday of this week, Aug. 14. This old established firm has issued an invitation to the people of McHenry and contiguous territory to visit their new show rooms on that date, at which time a general reception will be held in order that the public may have the opportunity to inspect this modern building and the complete new line of home furnishings. Saturday, Aug. 14, is an nounced as the formal opening day of the '1926 Model Hard ware Store' owned by William H. Althoff, who is now located in the new building erected by N.J. Justen on the same location as Mr. Althoff s former hardware store, destroyed by fire April 11 this year. FORTY YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of Aug. 13, 1936) The fourth installment of 10 percent on the deferred cer tificates held by the West McHenry State bank will be paid by that institution this week and payments were begun this morning. Per mission to do this has been received from Edward J. Barrett, auditor of public ac counts of the state of Illinois and deferred certificates of interest may be taken to the bank any time. Building construction in this locality got off to a relatively good start this year and has been increasing as the months go by, probably having reached its peak for the year with arrival of the mid-summer season. Just when things looked good for the McHenry All Stars last Sunday afternoon on the local diamond, those Bally Muck boys from Waukegan found ways of scoring enough runs to take a 9 to 8 decision. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of August 16, 1951) . On the corner of Green and Elm streets, before a house which has stood as a landmark for more than a century, is a sign which reads, "New home of the McHenry library." The statement stands for the realization of a dream come true for those citizens of the community who have worked with one aim in mind for so many years to provide the city with a suitable library in keeping with its growth and progress in other endeavors. The site of the new home for the library is the Tesch property, where Mrs. William Tesch lived more than eighty years and where she and her husband resided the sixty years of their married life. It was purchased by the city of McHenry library at public auction for $4,700. Mrs. Gertrude Barbian, local Red Cross chairman, and the McHenry Business Men's association won the out standing citizen and o r g a n i z a t i o n a w a r d s , respectively, at an impressive service in connection with the Veterans of Foreign Wars carnival in the city park Sunday. TEN YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of August 18. 1966) At the regular meeting of the McHenry County council Monday night, the annual tax levy ordinance was*passed and approved in the amount of $118,075. The levy last year was $102,850. The council indicated a desire to hold the levy within reason and did not consider the increase high in view of in creased valuations and needs in providing services expected by residents of the city. Bids received at the last meeting on a new compact station wagon were reviewed and action taken to accept the bid of Buss Ford Sales to furnish a Ford Falcon with larger engine and automatic transmission in the amount of $2,085. The thrill of being proclaimed state champions was experienced by the Viscount color guard of M c H e n r y l a s t S u n d a y a f ternoon when the young ladies won the Illinois title for the second consecutive year. They appeared before a grandstand filled with between 3,000 and 4,000 interested spectators at the state fair in Springfield. Emergency Preparedness Course Completed Craig R. Leigh, Sunrise Ridge Emergency Services director, and Mark Taber- nacki, co-director, recently completed a state seminar on Emergency Preparedness held in Rochelli, II. during the month of July by the State Emergency Services and Disaster agency. The seminar consisted of intensive training for emergency situations. It outlined the proper utilization of community resoures and stressed early detection methods of possible disasters. As a result of this seminar, citizens can be assured of quick response and assistance from Emergency services in the event of a disaster.
