This year the batting crown goes to Don Prazak who led all batters with a .662 batting average. The Old Bridge slugger also topped the league in the categories of total hits, runs batted in and homeruns. taking third in runs scored. Prazak, who was .044 percentage points above his nearest competitor, had 49 hits in 74 at bats with 8 doubles, 4 triples and 11 homeruns. His 34 runs scored plus 50 RBI's made him a most valuable player to the Old Bridge. The championship team, House of David, placed 8 batters within the top 20. The House's regular season average of .476 plus the all- around batting strength has kept them number one over the last two years. The House added 5 homerun leaders in the top 12. In doubles Steve Rohrer ©of the House was number one with a total of 16 while five other House batters finished in the top ten for two base hits. Three of the top four in the runs batted in department were from House of David. (LRSCC PHOTO) Team From McHenry Wins LRSCC Rallye Jim and Dorothy Becker of McHenry braved the hot and humid weather last Sunday as they paced their Volvo 142E to a first place finish in the Lake Region Sports Car club (LR SCC) autumn rally The driver- navigator team totaled lowest points (1,343) to capture the win by just 31 points ahead of the second place finishers. The rally, which started in Barrington, consisted of 66 miles and ended in Crystal Lake. The first 40 miles of the event was TSD (time-speed- distance), and the remaining leg (26 miles) was full gim mick. Other finishers included (2nd) Don and Gail Schenning in a Pinto with 1,374 points; (3) Dave Roberts and Wayne Pickette in an Opel GT with 2,075 points; (4th) Terry Gabel and Dorren Shurewood in a Camaro with 2,100 points; (5th) Russ Grover and Pam Perrewe in a Fiat 124 with 2,125 points. Finishing sixth through eighth with 2,150 points each were: Paul and Judy Musschoot in a Corvette, Richard Tickner and T. Burns in a Porsche and Jerry and Laura Lawson in a VW Rabbit. Virginia captured SECOND ANNUAL WOMEN'S INVITATIONAL Shooting a steady 82-82 for the two-day event, Char McLear of Biltimore Country Club, Barrington, captured the championship of the second annual McHenry Women's Invitational 36-hole medal play golf tournament at McHenry Thursday and Friday, Aug. 19 and 20. Returning as last year's runner-up, Char nosed out by one stroke Kathy Sharpenter who shot an 81 the first day to tie with Jack Schwartz for co- medalist. Paula Shearer, last year's defending champion, found the finely manicured course at McHenry a little more difficult to cope with and posted an 88-82 for a total 170. In first flight one of our local girls, Alvina Yopp, walked off with first place by carding 95-91 for 186. Also in first flight, Judy Smithson had the longest drive on the 16th fairway, sending her ball out 225 yards. In the second flight another McHenry gal, Lil Michels, took first place with 101-95. In third flight still another McHenry gal walked off with first place honors by shooting 95-88. Virginia also had low net over the entire field for the two-day period with 73-76 net. Gladys Bergstrom of Buffalo Grove captured first place in fourth flight by shooting 109- 111. In third flight on Thursday Mil Leisten had low putts of 28 while on Friday in the same flight Anna Johnson took 27 to have low putts for that day. Other local gals who made a good showing in the field of 138 contestants were Nancy •he first place honors of the third flight as she carded 18 hole rounds of 95 and 98 for a 36 hole total of 193. Lil captured first place in her flight with 18 hole rounds <ff 101 and 95 for a 36 hole total of 1%.
