September Marks Beginning Of New Season For Club After a short Summer vacation, the Town and" Country Newcomers held their September meeting. Mrs. Kathy Anger from the League of Women Voters gave the program. Social activities were discussed and Oct. 2 was the date set for the Frank Steiner party. The upcoming programs are to be a wallpapering demonstration for the October meeting and in November, the club's crafts auction will take place. At the altar of St. Patrick's Catholic church decorated with palms and white Fugi arrangements, Mary Beverly Pintozzi and Jon Joseph Meyer exchanged the nuptial vows uniting them in marraige. The Saturday, Sept. 18, 3 o'clock ceremony was blessed by the Rev. Michael Douglas of Auora, formerly of St. Patrick's. During the Mass, readings were given by the groom's father, Fred Meyer, and John Coughlin was commentator. Three of the bride's sisters brought the offertory gifts to the altar, Annette, Catherine and Patricia Pintozzi. Mass servers were the bride's brother, Anthony and a cousin, Wayne Dixon. Mrs. Jeanne Ludwig gave organ accompaniment to soloist Elmer Meyer, the groom's uncle, for selections including "Sunrise, Sunset", "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring", "Panis Angelicus", "Give Us This Day", "Walk Hand In Hand" and "On This Day". The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Pintozzi, 3717 W. High street, McHenry and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Meyer, 3404 W. First avenue, McHenry. The dark-haired bride wore a long empire gown of flowing white chiffon with double butterfly sleeves and a full chapel length train. The high- collared bodice was completely covered with appliques of white Swiss embroidery. Tiny self- covered buttons accented the back. A Juliet cap of matching white Swiss embroidered ap pliques held her shoulder length "butterfly veil of white illusion net which featured rolled hems on its three tiers to match the gown. She carried a cascade bouquet of phalaenopsis orchids, stephanotis and pitosporum foliage. Maureen Pintozzi of McHenry, attended her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Deborah and Donna Pintozzi, sisters of the bride, Marilyn Meyer, Donna Rakowsky, Peggy Rakestraw and Susan Schaefer, all of McHenry. The attendants were gowned in long A-line dresses of white chiffon featuring sleeveless one-shouldered bodices ac cented with a double flounce of chiffon. Capelets of chiffon formed a triple flounce effect and were highlighted by high rolled collars and a soft chiffon rose at the shoulder. Matching white chiffon roses on latticed frames formed their headpiece. Each carried a bouquet of cabbage roses formed by pittosporum foliage. Best man ̂ duties were han dled by the groom's brother, Dave' Meyer of McHenry. Groomsmen included Randal and Jpseph Meyer, Dennis Birmingham, Joseph Blenner, Joseph Etten, all of McHenry, and Thomas Mareing of Chicago. Ushers were Thomas Blake, Don Meyer and Fred Sorensen, all of McHenry. The bride's mother wore a champagne chiffon two-piece gown trimmed with beading while Mrs. Meyer chose an apricot and lime green gown with capelet. Three hundred and twenty- five guests feted the newlyweds at a reception at Holiday Inn, Mundelein. A new home awaits the couple upon their return from a honeymoon trip to West Palm Beach, Fl. I«7t Pi Alpha Chapter Of Beta Sigma Phi Begins New Season The summer activities of the Pi Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi consisted of a pool party, family picnic, and participation in the Marine day parade. The kidnap breakfast held Sunday morning, Aug.* 29, welcomed this chapters members back to an exciting year. The first meeting of Pi Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi was held recently in the home of Virginia Stasiak. The goal for the new year is to gain new members so another chapter can be formed. The groom graduated from Marian Central high school in 1964 and from Quincy college in 1968. He is employed as a consultant for Peat, Marwick and Mitchell of Chicago. The groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner for forty guests at St. Patrick's church hall prior to the wedding. ' The Covell Home on Broadway, one of those to be visited, was built in 1800 by Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Covell and their eight children. On the main floor there are five large rooms, foyer and an open staircase. There are three stairways to the second floor bedrooms and a large attic on the third floor. The second floor has five large bedrooms, large bathroom and balcony. The first floor parlor was used as a music room and sitting room for the family, it has a large coal burning fireplace. The large back porch was used for a laundry in the summer time and also to dispense milk for the village folks who came each day with their tin containers to purchase milk from the Covell large herd of milk cows. This Covell home was pur chased in 1974 by Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hunter. The Hunters are busily restoring the lovely home to its original beauty. The Community church social hall will be the center for the Arts and Crafts tea table and bake sale. It is located on Broadway, one block west of Main street (Route 120). Tickets may be purchased there or at any one of the homes. Maps will be at each home as well as the social hall. Those making the tour may choose their own starting point. District Women's Club Fall Meeting Sept. 27 The Fourth district fall meeting of the Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs will be held Sept. 27 at the Martinetti restaurant in Crystal Lake. Registration is bt 9:30a.m. with a buffet luncheon to be served at noon. Anyone interested should make their reservation with Mrs. Aeileen Hamilton, 560 Schuett street, Algonquin. The Algonquin Women's club is serving as hostesses for the big meeting. The Fourth district con sists of three counties, Boone, Winnebago and McHenry, with twenty clubs making up the Federation. The Whispering Oaks Women's club, the McHenry Women's club, the Pistakee Hills Women's club, the Wonder Lake Women's club and the Lotus Country Women's club of Spring Grove are all actively engaged in interesting work for their communities which they serve. Mrs. Albert Stilling of McHenry, the Fourth district president, has noted a genuine interest in the formation of more junior women's clubs in the district. Any young women who are interested in forming such a club may contact Mrs. Stilling for assistance in getting a club started. The social committee has planned many entertaining activities for members and their families. The ways and means committee has worked out several interesting ways to earn money to be donated to the charity of choice. The program committee distributed the year books and scheduled interesting cultural programs for each meeting. Jean Bialachowski and Sandy Etten presented the cultural program on the topic "Science- Natural". The second meeting of Pi Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi took place Thursday, Sept. 16, hosted by Sharron Powers. The business meeting consisted of reports given by officers and committees. The membership committee discussed the in vitation of prospective mem bers to the next months meeting. The traditions and by-laws of Pi Alpha chapter were reviewed and brought up to date. SCOPE-Successful Child birth and Organized Parent Education- will be offering a class for women in their first trimester of pregnancy Mon day, Sept. 27, at 7:30 p.m., at the First Methodist church in Crystal Lake. The program will be repeated Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m., also at the First Methodist church. All women in their first three months of pregnancy are en couraged to attend. Isabel Brody of McHenry, a dietician, will discuss nutrition, and Marge Swanson, a physical therapist, will demonstrate exercises, posture, and body mechanics for pregnancy. Other topics to be discussed will include sex, smoking, drugs, x-rays, the Rh factor, venereal diseases, rubella, and prepared childbirth. There will be a small fee to cover handouts, and this fee will be applicable to a SCOPE membership.
