Another issue brought up at the meeting on Sept. 14 was that of anonymous complaints received by various village officials concerning very large vehicles parked in the village. Phyllis Venable of Park View avenue presented to the board a petition she had circulated among her neighbors, asking whether the semi-truck sometimes parked at the Venable residence disturbed them. The majority of the residents said they were not annoyed by the vehicle. The village board has been con templating the passing of an ordinance to prohibit or restrict large vehicles, such as motor homes and very large trucks, from parking in the village. J Further study will be made before the issue is decided upon. CONSERVATION CLUB The McCullom Lake Con servation club met Thursday, Sept 16, at the Beach House, with the usual capacity crowd in attendance. That "crowd" was comprised of Jerry Raycraft, president, Gene Huff, vice-president, and Harriet Hammer, secretary- treasurer. It seems very strange that an organization with the grave dedication to try to keep the lake fit to fish and swim in cannot have more members. If every person who ever com plained about the shape our lake is in joined the Con servation club, or even just went to one meeting, I would venture to say the Beach House would be bursting at its seams. C'mon, you villagers, you can do better than this! The time and place of the next meeting of JEEP-CAR COLLISION - A jeep driven by Edward F. McFadden of 1512 Val court, McHenry, and a car driven bv Kathleen A. Neumann of 911 E. Althoff, McHenry, collided at the intersection of Meadow and Willow lanes Thursday afternoon about 3 o'clock. Ms. Neumann received injuries in the accident ant^ was taken to the Conservation club meeting will be posted in this column. Let's see how many people really care what happens to our lake and take the time to come to the meeting. ADDITION In last week's article about the Ladies of the Lake, I forgot to mention their meeting times. The Ladies meet on the second Thursday of every month at 8 p.m. at the McCullom Lake Beach House. Special meetings and social gatherings to be held at places and times other than these are announced at the previous month's meeting. LAKE CLEAN-UP The lake clean-up held Sept 11 & 12 was moderately suc cessful, at best. It seems that the majority of assistance came not from villagers, but from folks who live outside McCullom Lake. The villagers who did show up to help save our lake were: Roger Brand, Jay Caron, Billy Cunningham. Brook Elliott, Gene Huff, Lenny Jensen, Frank Kurth, Bob Michels, Bob, Joey, and Jerry Raycraft. Elmer Thorpe. John Walters, Pete Walters and Dave Weber. Some of the non-villagers who were kind enough to donate their time to help clean up our lake were: Bruce Ambrose, Irv Gal l , Mr . Hanford , Gene Freund, and Mart Parks. There were many o thers whose names were not recorded who do not res ide in the v i l l age , bu t vo lunteered the ir t ime The l ake does look a lo t be t ter , t he sur face weeds are pre t ty wel l gone, especially those near the shoreline. NEW STORE Jim and Ginny Franklin are working hard to open the new grocery store on McCullom Lake Road as soon as possible There is a lot of work involved to open a store; shelves and freezers have to be bought and installed, and supplies to be purchased and stocked Jim has been working in all his spare time and the Franklins hope to have the store open by the middle of October or November 1 for sure. Ginny Franklin has assured me that as soon as they are ready to make an announcement about their grand opening, she will let me know so that I can let you know.
