AFS McHenry Chapter Holds October Recycling Drive Lakemoor-Lilymoor Alma Hueckstaedt 385-5689 Saturday, Oct. 16, is the day to rid your garage, basement or utility area of all those ac cumulated newspapers, magazines, glass and cans. All these materials will be collected for recycling by the McHenry County Defenders in Crystal Lake and McHenry. The McHenry Oct. 16 drive will be handled by the American Field Service, McHenry Chapter. Paper, cans and glass may be brought to the recyclers at their usual location in the Market Place Shopping Plaza on Rt. 120 from 9a.m. to 5 p.m. Defenders ask that citizens cooperate in preparing their recyclable materials. Glass should be clean, separated by color, and have lids and metal rings removed. Paper materials should be sorted according to type (newspapers, magazines, junk mail, etc.) and tied into a secure bundle 8-10 inches high. "Tin cans should be kept separated from all- aluminum cans. Both types should be clean. Aluminum cans should be crushed. Lids and labels should be removed from tin cans and they should be flattened with the lids inside. Bi-metal flip top cans are no longer accepted Defenders also ask that citizens do not leave their recyclable materials at the parking areas after the volunteer workers have left. Family Film To Be Shown Next Sunday Time To Run, a film that is a mixture of problems and solutions, will be shown at Chain O'Lakes Evangelical Covenant church, 4815 N. Wilmot road Sunday, Oct. 17. The feature, filmed in East- mancolor by World Wide Pictures, will be shown once beginning at 6:30 p.m. Filmed on location in the southern California area, Time To Run stars Ed Nelson, Randall Carver, Barbara Sigel, Joan Winmill and Gordon Rigsby. Nelson plays Warren Cole a hard driving success- oriented industrial and scientific engineer who, because of over-involvement with his work, has failed to FORMAL WEAR RENTALS for ALL OCCASIONS l&g&al 1214 N. Green St., McHenry communicate with his wife, Fran, played by Joan Winmill, or their son, Jeff, played by screen newcomer, Randall Carver. Time To Run allows the viewer to become involved on any one or more of the three different levels. Viewed purely as entertainment, it's the suspenseful story of Jeff's attempts at sabotage in the nuclear generating plant conceived, designed and managed by his father. Jeff strongly feels the plant is a threat to the environment, and he puts his feelings in action. Viewed on an emotional level, Time To Run is the deeply moving drama of the conflicts that develop between husband and wife, and between father and son. In an attempt to find freedom from the evergrowing hostilities Jeff takes to the road, hoping to discover some meaning in his confused life. Approached from a religious perspective, Time To Run is also a story of friction between Jeff and his girl friend, Michelle, played by Barbara Sigel, who is a familiar face to television viewers. Michelle had discovered a spiritual dimension in her life, and this aspect is very confusing to Jeff, who has little time for "a God who would allow war, hatred, and suffering on earth." But his life is shattered by an avalanche of personal problems, and he finds himself at a Jesus people gathering with Michelle, where he glimpses the possibility of a new life-style based on love and understanding. Time To Run is a film that can help strengthen love relationships between people. It's a film that was made for families to attend-together. DEDICATION SERVICE Oct. 7, 1976 was a very grey and chilly day as those who attended the official opening service of the Moraine Hills State park will attest to. Governor Walker sent his regrets for being unable to attend and cutting the ribbon officially opening the park. The ceremony was handled by a member of the Con s e r v a t i o n d e p a r t m e n t . Following the cutting of the ribbon there were guided tours through a portion of the park which proved to be very in teresting and worth taking. Among those present for the opening whom I saw an<J talked to were Alyce Kowal, Lilyann Baker, Norman and Pat Morrison. My two daughters and I felt that if the weather had been warmer the tour would have been more enjoyable but even so we were very glad we were there. My infant grand daughter slept through most of the doings and didn't mind a bit being passed from one set of arms to another.
