COLI.KGK DISPLAY -- Valerie Voss, McHenry County college sludeni from Sleepy Hollow, puts the final touches on her project which is on display in the main hall building at the college campus. Valerie, a student in a Master Floral Design class taught by John Witlmus, collected, dried and arranged all materials for her display. The display, entitled "The Naturalist" features a backdrop of fabric, baskets of dried leaves and weeds, gourds, Indian corn, burlap and wood. Each student in the Master Design rlass had his own project and all are on display in the main hall building. The next class project will be Christmas designs. Court Joyce Kilmer Observes Anniversary On the joyful Oct. 21 ann­ iversary of Joyce Kilmer Court No. 573, Catholic Daughters of America, Father William H. Schwartz, associate pastor of St. Mary's McHenry was honored guest speaker "Prayer, the lifting up of one's heart to God in a two-way communication between God and ourselves" was the enlightening topic of his ad­ dress to members and guests The robed officers in a regal installation ceremony directed by Regent Bertilla Freund of Court Joyce Kilmer, and District Deputy Mrs. Madeline Schroeder of Court Holy Cross No. 558, Batavia, conferred membership on two netfc members in the National Catholic Daughters of American organization which has a membership of more than 200,(KM). Its aim is to assist in the spread of Holy Faith. These two members were Mrs. Martha Cossey and Mrs. Marian Longfield, both of McHenry The business meeting was duly processed and members made notes of the events to come, namely Nov. 10 Day of Recollection for which Mrs. John R. Freund asks that reservations be made by the fourth; a Mass for deceased members on the fourteenth; on the eighteenth, regular meeting, and on the twentieth, a bake sale at McHenry Stcte bank which will also afford patrons an opportunity to ob tain a very noteworthy C.D.of A. cookbook just off the press. A gift token was presented to each of the charter members, and attendance prizes were awarded to Ann Studin and Oleva Clucas. A birthday salute was sung to Laura Weber, and Stella Graham recognized all those who remembered her eighty-fifth. The closing prayer was led by Father Schwartz. Mrs. William B. Lahs, refreshment hostess, honored the court with a beautifully inscribed delicious cake befitting the occasion. Oct. 23 and 24 workshops in Ottawa, U., were attended by Regent Bertilla Freund, Vice- Regent Mary Freund, and Recording Secretary Mary Agnes Hartmann.
