/ Obedience Training Classes For Dogs Offered By Club PAGE 7 - PLAINDEALER-WEDNESOAY. DECEMBER 8, 1976 Political New Religious Programs Basic home obedience training classes foi/all dogs will be offered by wTar-Dun-Al Obediunce Dog Training club beginning January 5, 1977. Training takes place at the Elgin National Guard Armory 'on Raymond between National and Gifford) on Wednesday evenings. Visitors are welcome. To enroll in training classes call Joan Ruchti 837- 7299 or Marilee Teets 695-8965. During the course dogs learn to walk quietly with their owners, always remaining at their left side. They learn to stay in a particular position without moving, upon com mand, even if a stranger comes up and pets them. They also respond immediately to their' owners call and come directly at a brisk pace, off leash, and sit quietly in front, of them waiting for the next command, behavior expected of a good household pet. Obedience trained dogs are happy dogs who are welcome in any household or neighborhood is the philosophy of Car-Dun-AI, a non-profit organization for the training of dogs. Students at Marian Central Catholic high school are experiencing several special religious programs in the next several weeks. During the Advent season, as shown in the picture above, the students are preparing for the coming of Christ into their lives by using an Advent Wreath service. The Advent Wreath symbolizes man's longing for Christ who is the light of the world. Each week students light an additional candle to nil the world with the true light Who is Christ. Also, for the Eeast of the Immaculate Conception, which is the official feast day of the school, the students will participate in a Mass of the Russian Byzantine liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. This is a rite of the Eastern Catholic church. Usually the Mass is celebrated in the Roman rite of the church. The Mass will be celebrated by a Benediction priest. Father Demetrius D.S.B., from St. Procopius abbey in. Lisle, U. Priests from local parishes have received special permission from Bishop O'Neill to concelebrate the Mass. The Mass is prayed in English and partially in Ukranian and Greek. This form of the Mass also differs from the usual Roman rite by its using leavened bread instead of the unleavened wafers. It also uses four sacred images called icons to separate the people from the inner Holy of Holy and it uses incense throughout the ceremony and is mostly sung by the priests.
