In addition to negative EIA test requirements for exhibition, entering the state and auction, the new law will require the following: "An Illinois equidae more than 12 months of age which are sold, traded, offered for sale, leased, loaned or transported on public roads, streets or high­ ways in a conveyance within Illinois must be negative to the agar-gel immunodiffusion test (Coggins Test) for EIA within 12 months prior to such tran­ saction or movement." Equidae moving to slaughter are exempt from this requirement, and if an animal is moving directly to a licensed auction market for sale within 48 hours of movement that animal is exempt from the requirement until he is released from that market. The Advisory board of livestock commissioners met Dec. 8 in Springfield to consider possible repeal of requirements for entering the state, exhibition and transportation. Shepard Jr. But as a whole they constitute a vast' talent pool that can be brought back into active support of 4-H through the n a t i o n a l 4 - H a l u m n i recognition program. Program in 24th year The program was launched in 1953 to identify and honor former 4-H'ers who are living * examples of 4-H ideals, and to encourage their continued participation in 4-H. County, state and national awards donated by Olin C o r p o r a t i o n r e c o g n i z e outstanding men and women whose accomplishments, fol­ lowing 4-H membership, ex­ emplify effective community leadership, public service, service to 4-H and success in their chosen careers. Nominations are in order Nominations at the county level may be made by local 4 - H c l u b s , c o u n t y 4 - H councils, county extension o f f i c e s o r i n t e r e s t e d individuals. Up to four 4-H alumni in each county are eligible for recognition pins. Four alumni winners per state, selected from am on county winners, are awarde recognition plaques. Eight national winners will r e c e i v e g o l d k e y s a n d expense-paid trips to the 56th National 4-H Congress, Nov. 27-Dec. 1, 1977, in Chicago, where they will be honored at a dinner hosted by Olin. All winners are chosen by the Cooperative Extension Service.
