In the J.V. I meet the Warriors rallied to win 30 to 29. Trailing 29 to 12 going into the final three matches the outlook was dim for the Warriors. Anderson at 167 won on a for feit. At 185 Roger Brand pinned Winkler to bring the Warriors to within 5. Bobby Seaton, Warrior heavyweight, needed to pin his opponent for the victory. With pressure on all sides, the young Warrior heavyweight responded to the challenge and in the second period pinned Lambert of the Warhawks for the win. The J.V. II squad won easy 48 to 13, but the freshman went down to a 34 to 19 defeat. VARSITY 98 lbs., Mullen, McH. - dec. The event was a roaring success, as usual. A troupe of singers and dancers entertained the crowd of children and parents at the part;' this year, and they put on a terrific performance. Bells were passed out to the audience so that they could join in and jingle throughout some of the songs, and more than one grown-up person was observed by this reporter eating the sucker to which the bell had been attached. After the entertainment, Santa Claus made a grand entrance, and listened to each child's Christmas list. Assisting Santa was Little Miss Mc Cullom Lake, Candy Bailey. Hovering close by were Santa's elves, Joan Bitterman and Karen Parks. Other special guests were Mary Poppins and the Chimney Sweep, LaVerne Loewe and Jackie Raycraft. These two characters were in keeping with part of the theme of the singers. After Santa had heard all the smaller children's Christmas wishes, three big turkeys showed up to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas. Frank Kurth, Jim Bitterman, and someone who wishes to remain anonymous, but whose initials are J.J.R , climbed up on Santa's knee and pleaded for all sorts of goodies, none of which they will probably receive, since they are all' naughty boys. Punch and cookies were gobbled up by the partygoers, and Santa gave a candy cane to each child. I just might add, that being on the committee for Christmas this year, I got to see firsthand just how much cooperation the committee gets with decorating the hall, and it is really a pity. VILLAGE NEWS Because of the holidays7 there are several changes in the regular village schedule that you might wish to be aware of. First, there will be no village board meeting Dec. 28. I have been informed that the second village board meeting in December is always cancelled because of its closeness to the holidays. The next village board meeting wilt ' , and I swear this is right rr.is time. Gene, Tuesday, Jan. 11, 1977 at the beach house Second, the village clerk's Libertyville. They will be held Tuesday, April 19, 1977. If you are in terested in running for a village office, the wheels are starting to turn. You may pick up nominating petitions and statements of candidacy, alqng with any information you might need, from village clerk Karen Parks during her regular hours any day. These papers may be picked up at any time, but they may not be filed until Jan. 10. The positions open for the April election are the following: village president - four year term; village clerk - four year term; four village trustees, two for four year terms, and two for two year terms. BEACH GAL'S PARTY The Beach Gals held their annual Christmas party for themselves this year at a local restaurant, and a surprising number of girls showed up. Too bad we can't have that kind of show at the meetings and ac tivities. The party, which was on Dec. 15, started with a cocktail hour. Dinner was served, featuring chicken and roast beef. After the meal, the drawing for the door prize was held, and yours truly picked her own name out of the hat. Then games were played, with prizes for all the games. Grab bag gifts were exchanged after the games, and every girl received a lovely gift. Not one rubber chicken in the lot!! One more bit of news to remind you about is the Beach Gals caroling Dec. 22. Carolers are to meet at the beach house at 7 p.m., and will be assigned areas to cover. Remember that no child under ten years of age will be allowed to participate unless accompanied by a responsible person. Hot chocolate will be served back at the beach house when the caroling winds up at 9 p.m. \ LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT Edie Rourke was so upset by President Ford's recent defeat in the election that she wrote to him and told him how badly she felt Everyone Edie confided in said she's wasted her time, that even if the letter by some miracle got to the President, he would never answer it. Well, lo and behold, a letter came from the White House addressed to Mr. and Mrs. John Rourke, and inside was a personal letter from the President! This is a lesson in faith to all you non-believers! BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES Very special birthday wishes go out this week to Christmas babies Mona Bitterman, Dec. 24, and Darlene Groh, Dec. 25. A happy, happy anniversary to Kurt and Jo Weisenberger, who celebrate their anniversary Dec. 22. Hope you feel fine by then. Jo. JUST A NOTE Just a little note from me to you that says have a safe and wonderful Christmas. Many have given me so much help and cooperation with my column, especially Jackie Raycraft, who always knows what's going on. Love ya'. Jack! patients find themselves rather unaccountably (to them) depressed. The feeling of depression often has nothing to do with whether the surgery is successful or not. There are several reasons which seem to account for the experience of depression following surgery. Most im portant of these reasons is a normal physiological and psychological reaction to the actual physical trauma im posed on the body by the surgery itself. Any time there is an injury to the body (and surgery, by its very definition, is an injury to the body), the entire body chemistry undergoes an alteration in an attempt to deal with the injured portion of the body. One of the alterations is a kind of physiological retreat, or rest period, to allow the body time to deal with the injured portion and prevent further injury. The loss of energy and physiological ennui feels like, and indeed is, indistinguishable from clinical depression. However, rather than being pathological Mn nature, this form of "depression" is curative, allowing the body time to recover. As we saw last week, the anticipation prior to surgery can be an extremely traumatic experience. Following the actual procedure, there is often a period of let down, even if the surgery is a complete success. This, of course, may be a bit disconcerting to the person who is expecting a profound sense of relief that everything has turned out fine. It seems almost as if they are aware, perhaps for the first time in their life, of their body's vulnerability, and what could happen, even if it hasn't. Finally, the experience of being in the totally strange and sometimes frightening at mosphere of the hospital can contribute to feelings of depression, isolation and loneliness. In this case, a return to the comfort of familiar home surroundings as soon as possible often is beneficial. Fortunately, depression following surgery is usually fairly brief, seldom lasting more than a few days or weeks. Most importantly, the ex perience is a normal one and does not require professional intervention unless the depression is severe and prolonged. TURN ONS WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT THE FUTURE, SENATOR?
