A GTE Sylvania Inc. has introduced its 1977 line of color television sets fea turing lQO^er cent solid- state chassis in every mod el and expanded use of GT-Matic self-adjusting tuning. GTE Sylvania is a subsidiary of General Telephone & Electronics Corporation. Advanced fe/tiu^» Thirty of W coldr sets and all four home enter tainment centers in the new line have either GT- Matic or the more ad vanced GT-Matic II self- adjusting tuning features. Included in most 1977 sets is a negative guard band black matrix picture tube, featuring a dark faceplate which absorbs room light and provides' the highest contrast and sharpest picture ever of fered on a Sylvania set. The tube is included as Dark-Lite 50 in 17 of the 25-inch (diagonal) color sets and in all entertain ment centers; In a 21-inch model and in four 19-inch table sets. Four fa-inch units and three 19-inch models have Chroma-I^ne in-line picture tubes. „ Of the 30 color sets with GT-Matic tuning, 25 have the more advanced GT- Matic II features. These models are available in 25, 21, and 19-inch (diag onal) screen sizes. THE LATEST IN FINE TUNING and clear picture recep tion, this 19-inch (diagonal) GT-Matic self-adjusting color television set has been introduced by GTE Sylvania Incor porated, a subsidiary of General Telephone & Electronics Corporation. Model CX6174C, part of Sylvania's 1977 line of color receivers, features a solid-state chassis, Dark-Lite 50 picture tube, and replaceable circuit modules. It has a 5-inch oval speaker and a 70-position click-stop UHF chan nel selector. The Early American cabinet has a cherry grain finish on high-impact plastic. Manufacturer's suggested list price is $499.95. The stand, an optional extra, has a sug gested list price of $29.95. wraw \< e is Ilu' plai »• u it li ttu' Helpful H.irdu.m' M.m™ A1 riiir \\\\\ s,i WINDSHIELD WASHER & ANTI FREEZE 1 GAL. McHENRY 385-0722 The GT-Matic II chas sis features two integrated circuits to assure that sets maintain optimum bright ness and contrast settings and maintain flesh tones over wide signal variations without significant distor tion of other colors. Five models -- two 19- inch and three 17-inch \lnits -- have GT-Matic tuning but do not include the GT-Matic II circuits. All GT-Matic chassis of fer a number of other unique features. Included is a "vertical countdown" integrated circuit that is equivalent in performance to about 120 conventional solid-state devices. It eliminates the need for a vertical hold control and Jceeps the picture steady despite electrical "noise." Other automatic circuits help compensate for the effects of airplane flutter, changes in line voltage, and problems originating at the program source. A separate circuit auto matically adjusts the hor izontal hold. An exclusive monitor circuit maintains the amount of color in the picture to pre-set levels. Perma-Tint which reduces anoying flesh tone varia tions, is built into all GT- Matic chassis. Additional circuitry as sures brightness and con trast despite _^ariations from chahnefHo-channel and scene-to-scene and automatically locks-in correct fine tuning. Built-in option "The GT-Matic sets have a built-in option for view ers who wish to make ad justments' to suit individ ual taste. VHF tuners also feature plug- in transistors. There are 20 color re ceivers in the 25-inch (di-, agonal) series, including two table models. All are GT-Matic II sets and five have remote controls. Edison's phonograph fired the imaginations of audio engineers around the' world, opening the way for technological breakthroughs" that fan the gamut from early shel lac rq^pd flayers through sterf^md more recently 4-cmRinel or quadraphon ic sound. But as audio equipment became more sophisticat ed, prices skyrocketed. Then, just over a decade ago, the Japanese devel oped the transistor, and created a revolution with in a revolution. Combined with mass production, transistor technology went a long way toward reducing the complexities of home )auT dio equipments And brought the good home audio equipment within the reach of the mass con sumer. spurgeons urni ' l l i i# • January 13, 14, 15 & 16 M SPORTSWEAR ' Skirts, Pants, Tops, Sweaters.
