By Dick Rabbitt The Woodstock Blue Streaks defeated the McHenry High Warriors in a Saturday night brawl at Woodstock 75 to 69. In probably one of the roughest and most physical games played in years, the officials tooted the whistle 59 times for fouls. The Warriors were assessed 35 of these no-no's, while the Streaks had 24. In what started out to be a good ball game, ended up in a con- tinous march to the free throw line. The officiating was not of the best caliber, as both coaches time and time again left the bench to demand explanations from the men in the striped shirts. They were inconsistent time and time again, and at times could not agree among hemselves however, the officials did not beat the Warriors. The inability to put the Streaks away in the third period when they led by 9, along with the easy missed shots were just two of the causes of the defeat. Brian Miller had a good night as he canned 26 pts. to lead all scorers. Big Al Reinboldt broke out of his slump and got 20, and Billy Hurckes hit for 7 for a total of 14 pts. However, Coach Ludwig has to find- soinv mo*«_ scoring punch from the other two players, who ever they may be. The other two spots have not come through in the scoring lh I M M E D I A T E D E L I V E R Y I N S T A N T S E R V I C E 1977 AUTO LICENSE PLATES ON SALE HERE December 1 thru February 14 department. A basket here or there, plus a free throw or two is not enough to carry ;the Warriors. «£ Steve Knox got the Warriors on the board in the opening minute and the Warriors traded baskets with the Streaks until Genot s basket put the Streaks ahead and they maintained this lead for a 19 t,o 16 first period margin. In the second period the Warriors began to roll. Rein boldt s free throw at 5:00 put the Warriors ahead 25 to 24, and with Miller and Al hitting the hoop, the Warriors increased their margin to 42 to 33 halftime lead. In the third period although the Warriors slumped they did manage to maintain a slight lead and Hurckes's basket at the buzzer kept them ahead by 4, 59 to 55. Ron Genot, Woodstock's big center, fouled out of the contest with 1 minute remaining in the period, and Warrior hopes arose, as the big fellow was a terror on the boards for the Streaks. Early in the final period, the Streaks made their move, with Shipley, and Schwebke hitting from fai and near, the Streaks broke out to a quick 67 to 62 lead, and lh«, Wa.s ne»t»' could close the gap and went down to their 7th defeat of the season and 5th in a row. Their record is riow 7 and 7 for the season. Only one game on tap next weekend. Crown comes to the friendly confines on Friday night for a North Suburban clash, and maybe the Warriors can break their losing streak with a big win over the Vikings i s VARSITY McHenry fg rt Miller 7 12 26 Reinboldt 9 2 20 Knox i-/' 1 0 2 j Hurckes ^ 7 0 14 f Thorn as fr 1 0 2 1 Partenheimer 0 3 3 f Schiller 1 0 2 Totals 26 17 69 Woodstock fg ft tp Genot 4 8 16 Horner 2 6 10 Schwebke 8 1 17 Shipley 5 7 17 Schroeder 3 2 8 Hay 1 4 Rabe 0 1 1 Totals 23 29 75 McHenry 16 26 17 11) 6*) Woodstock 19 14 22 20 7.-1 Notice Sports Pictures Since previous notices (starting last fall) have not been noted, this will be run from time to time.
