* / . Village of McHenry Shores Jude La Francis - 385-5067 Occupancy Fee And Snowmobile Laws Reviewed At the regular meeting of the board several important items were on the agenda. An or dinance concerning a tern porary occupancy fee was discussed. The question of snowmobile riding within the village limits was brought up. Again it was stated that the snowmobile ordinance was similar to those of other villages, i.e. snowmobiles are not permitted on village streets or ditches; snowmobiles are to be ridden on one's own property. If you have any questions regarding the occupancy fee ordinance or the Showmobile ordinance, please call the village hall. These ordinances • will again be discussed at the next board meeting Feb. 2. Plan now to attend. THE SHORELINE CLUB What is the Shoreline club? Let s first state what it is not. It is not a clique made up of a few select women of the village. It is not an organization solely to make money for the com munity. It is not a ladies' club of gossipy women. The' Shoreline Club is an organization for the women of the village of McHenry Shores. It is open to all of the women of the Shores -- no membership fee is required (an innovation this year). You are a member if you reside in the Shores. The club meets once a month, the third Tuesday of the month. Some of the activities which are enjoyed by the women at the monthly meetings are, card playing, game playing, craft exhibitions, demonstrations of various skills, and much more. It is an evening out! It is an opportunity to just have fun. True, the club does sponsor the annual bazaar which helps to raise money for the com munity's youth. Recreation equipment for the village has already been purchased with money donated by the club. The club also sponsors the annual picnic, Santa Claus visit, and Halloween costume contest. However, it is not an organization merely to sponsor fund-raising, worthwhile, or children's activities. In the past it also sponsored a bowling night and other husband and wife events. It is your club, ladies of the Shores; it is a place where you can enjoy yotirselves and possibly gain some new knowledge in various and sundry "areas, lamp- making, ceramics, sewing of all kinds, makeup and hair styling, creative writing, and anything else in which you are interested. You plan the evening's activities. The next meeting of the Shoreline Club is Feb. 15. At the present time, the election of officers is on the agenda for the evening. Call Liriida Leurssen if you have any ideas or suggestions for the rest of the evening's activities. BIRTHDAYS Happy belated birthday to Janet Rees who celebrated her big day, Jan. 20. The Rowes, who now reside in Milwaukee, Wi., came for the day, with the first stop being the home of Jerry and Jackie Raycraft. Along with the Rowes and the Raycrafts, Karen Parks with her kids joined the party, and dinner was a noisy, joyous event at the Raycrafts. Later on in the afternoon, the * Rowes stopped by Sergio and Cindy Martini's home for a "visit. A fine time was had by all, and the Rowes went back to their new home Sunday night, promising to come back to visit again soon. VOLLEYBALL The adult volleyball game which was held Jan. 15 turned out all right, even though no great masses showed up to participate. The folks who did show up had a great time, getting down to see some really serious volleyball. Another game will be scheduled in the near future, probably the second or third weekend in February, and we hope to have more people at tend the next time. Watch the column for the date and time of the next game. Graham Movie Comes To City Church Feb. 6 Evangelist Billy Graham's motion picture "The Heart Is A Rebel" will be a forthcoming significant event in the religious life of McHenry. The new feature-length color production stars Ethel Waters, Georgia Lee, and John Milford and is scheduled for its local showing at the Alliance church Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. The story is based on a conflict in the life of a modern young couple when the husband, an advertising executive, can't find a place in his scheme-of-things for his wife's sudden acceptance of the Christian faith.
