No whistles in this game No referee. flayers called their own fouls and were honest. You should have seen the Rotary cheerleaders. Boys dressed as girls put up a great front Dennis Conway pulled a Harry Anderson" as he sank a long shot from past the middle of the floor just a split second before the first half ended. With about a second to play, the Kiwanis boys lead by 5 or 6 points The game ended with the scoreboard showing Rotary >4 - Kiwanis 53. Any questions9 Ask Bob Adams. He was the man at the controls. An Elmhurst College news release carries this note: Freshman Tom Ludwig came off the bench and hit four of four field goals and four of four Our friend Loren "Tommy" Thomas passed away last week at the age of 57 years he was a little Warrior with a big heart who played a spirited game of football for McHenry High some years ago. We will miss his letters and greetings. Shook off our winter blahs enough to see the Warrior- Crystal Lake game Friday night, but didn't rebound for the Saturday night game. Coach Ludwig has his hands full since injuries pulled the rug out from under the team. Using different com binations, the coach was able to keep his team in the game, but couldn't get over the hill in a 58- 49 loss The Tigers have a couple of sophomores in the lineup who will bear watching the next two years Ralph Statter is a 6-5, 195 pounder. Tom Pence is 6-2 and 172 pounds Both will probably grow more Our snappy Pom-Pon girls put on a crowd-pleasing show during the half. They are good and also good looking. Cindy Moromito, Wonder .Lake, and her doubles partner, Karen Roehl, Elgin, advanced to the second round of com petition in the Ladies "B" doubles level of competition in the winter-long tennis tour nament at the Racket club in Crystal Lake. Ms. Mormito and her partner defeated their opponents, Nancy Sabel and Candy Luckett, both of Crystal Lake, 6-4, 6-7, 6-1, in a testy three set match. Another Wonder Lake resident, Joe Hertrich, didn't fare quite as well, as he and his partner, Jim Venerable, Woodstock, were ousted in the No Charge To Our Savers . The rest of the game was playing catchup and it could not be done The Warriors were down by 5 at the period 16 to 11. The Warriors had a dry spell in the second period, enabling the Tigers to widen the gap to a 9 pt lead at the intermission 32 to 23. That margin was enough for the Tigers as both teams played to a standstill the last two periods each scoring 26 pts Brian Miller led all scorers with 22 pts Lake 1 orest Saturday night before "Parents Night" and a revised lineup the Warriors took off from the opening whistle and looked like the team of yesteryear Late in the period the Warriors led 15 to 9. and 7 of the 9 Scout points came at the hands of their fine all around plaver Tom Trkla Then the Warriors hit a real dry spell. Leading 15 to 14 at the period, the Warriors in the opening minutes of the second quarter still could not buy a basket Jamie McWeeney came off the bench for the Scouts and in a short span of time canned four of four from 15 ft to put the Scouts ahead 20 to 15, thus running off 11 unanswered points However, in the closing seconds of the half. Part- enheimer's two free throws, and Marty Deener's three point play put the Warriors ahead at the intermission 28 to 27. The third period was played rapidly, the officials stuck the whistle in their pocket, and both teams settled down to a more or less finesse type of game With Miller. Hurekes. Par- tenheimer and Deener all scoring, the Warriors outscored the Scouts 13 to 10 and went into the final eight minutes on the long end of a 41 to 37 score.
